I just realised that my guitar neck is warped...urmm not terribly but its warped abit...

I wanna know whether is this gonna affect my playing or not?
I think its due to string tension or whatever...but I am not well-versed in this yet.I need to hear from y'all.

Thanks.

you might wanna take a pic or something..post it here and show the stage of warp. if it aint that bad it'll still be of help..if not well..we need to see it man!~

Neck warp is gonna give you string buzzes from places you don't know existed! It's alot about stirng tension countering the truss rod tension. I scrwed up my ex-jem jr's neck, and it was BBZZZBZZZBZZZZ... heh heh...

urmm intonation? thats bad...shucks..but if i just tune correctly..it'll be ok rite?

anyways,if i wanna send it for repair...how much will it cost? roughly?

no tuning it up to pitch wont change your intonation. usually warping means your strings are getting shorter(i think) which will throw off the intonation badly. my friend's old acoustic had its bridge lifted and the intonation was really bad although its a short distance only.

btw what gauge of strings are you using??

EDIT: if wont help just by tuning up, i have no idea where and how much it will cost. adjusting your truss rod might help though if its not that bad

What's your guitar model?

You should bring it to Sinamex at Parklane Shopping Mall, just next to Peace Centre. Ask for a diagnostics from the guy in there... and have him determine if there' s really anything wrong with your guitar. Otherwise, there's also Guitar 77.

Truss Rod adjustments risky leh. Dun screw up your neck. No pun intended. :)

really meh? i thought warping is when ur neck bends. This is usually a result of taking off all the strings of(f) your guitar at once. i experienced it with classical guitars in school quite often, i think its roughly 100-200 for one, the shop at basement paradiz repairs i think...

last time i did take out all my strings at once...but that was just three or four times..other than that..i just restring following the 6,1,5,2,4,3 method thingy...

if ask for diagnostics must pay? my guitar is J&D which looks like an SG...i dun even know what model..

urm yeah...seems like it..I mean..it still plays decently...cnt hear anything wrong...

cept that without any amp..there will be buzzing

It is free if you just wish to have your guitar checked.

I used to think that my guitar has a twisted neck, until I went back to the shop and realised the rest of the stock have that slight twist in the neck. And since it doesn't affect my playing, I left it.

Hmm u can get professional help in adjusting your guitar. If it's like a sore eye to you, then do it asap lor.

i just asked my guitar teacher, when ur neck warps, it tends to go out of tune easier... like maybe one or two knocks or stuff like that can leave it down a tone...

I dont think taking off all the strings at once will do anything to it. I always do that when i restring my highway1 strat. I'm also using 11s-52s, at first i had quite some bend on the neck, after SLOWLY adjusting the truss rod, now its perfect for me.

Yeah the key to truss rod adjustment is probably slowly, a bit then compare the bend, a bit then compare the bend.
