i guess many of us in here aspire to be a musician be it an arranger a composer a performer , but the music scence in singapore in the 60s compared to now is very much different.
1) the people starting out in the 60s is much lesser compared to the people wanting to start out now which means more competitors, although in music there are many stream of music, its a fact that in singapore alot of people might be involve in a certain genre still.
2) equiment wise technologies wise we are far superior than in the 60s, however because also of these sound technicians start ups people like me and you find it hard to get hands on training on recording studio etc. however in the past these might proof to be easier.
3) in record sales etc, i may not be right but i certainly feel that chinese pop is singapore most sellable ablums, this is bcos of its easy structure, listening is also easy. although it only sells to the chinese a minority of other race too, the mainstream in singapore could be said as chinese music. wheras music like hardcore extreme metal are way behind. i think this might be because of society being able to accept such music.
4) if its possible i guess many softies would like to hear how our local succeed in this line weather its chinese music english music metal rock etc. we would like to hear how you make it
