Holy Mother of DIRT PEDALS!

Was gona post this after I finished watching but I guess you did it first haha. His delay shootout was pretty epic too.

Hahaha another epic shootout by taylor barefoot. I haven't finished watching the vid but so far the rockbox od/ distortion sounds the best to me.. the new klon seems darker than the older ones, might be the settings tho..

cant believe i saw through the entire thing... but one thing though, he tweaked almost every pedal to the brighter / less bassier side of things, not to mention he was playing a tele with its bridge pickup, really a super bright setting. i suppose the purpose was to hear the note clarity and all but doesn't fully exploit the pedals to my ears imho. only a few pedals in the demo really caught my attention, rockbox, landgraff and the tim were some of the few.

another interesting thing is you can actually hear some "boxiness" with some of the pedals too. the rodenberg gas 808 was one example.

It's really down to preference. I actually felt that most of the pedals were too dark and preferred it when he upped the brightness.

I agree with you on the rodenberg, the moment I heard it I skipped that part haha. It was worse than the 808 or ts9 heh. On an unrelated note...the DS-1 was not bad.

but i think thats ridiculous. the 808 circuit is amazing. possibly in this vid it may not have shone, but frankly, ive had over 100 od's. and the TS808 will always remain one of my fav's . esp when the circuit is slightly modded like the analogman one's!... every pedal reacts differently to an amps setting. if youre saying all these pedals sounded 'too boxy' then possibly the amp setting was not friendly to TS circuits. i mean even the Screwdriver was 'boxy' but its an amazing pedal. the TIM was thin sounding. but many swear by it. just means it not friendly with the setting. this is a great demo, but i hope we all know we cannot judge a pedal by this demo unless you got yaself a two rock Custom reverb or whatever he was using. i will admit the 808 in this vid sucked, but try one. some like me may be very very impressed. esp into a driven amp and i personally thought the wamplers sounded like ass, another many swear by. we need to have amass pedal shoot out with a buncha diff amps in singapore and show these guys how a shootout is done...

@pedal-itis: hah I'd readily avail myself to be your roadie for the idea your throwing out! Awesomeness!

In all brutal honesty through, after the initial hype in me died from watching this vid (it is pretty phenomenal in it's own right) I can't help but think that this was just a publicity stunt to create a very lethal tease and craze over the new Klon. (lol k if this was TGP I'd be stoned to death right about now)

I skipped so many pedals!

From the shootout the main standout ones to me was the Rockbox and the Kalamazoo, but it ain't making me want either of them. Just take this shootout with a pinch of salt

@pedal-itis Thats the way brother. Have our own shootout!

We really could. I've got bout 7-9 drives myself now and 6 amps. We should all contribute n one studio .. There ya go.. Shoot out .. I mean I've always disliked the hot cake, but sounded good today n yeah I agree bout the klon hype.. Didn't like most of them the way they were set, and if it was a real shoot out, no one would use just the ver 4 OCD.. Cause the ver 3 would crush it (IMO)... The klon sounded best .... Publicity stunt eh?

With these shootouts, I chose not to watch the video and listen to the audio only. The rockbox stood out the most for me but I somehow disliked the hotcake with that setup haha..

A soft dirt shootout sounds very interesting man. I'd love to contribute with the few dirt pedals I have.

With these shootouts, I chose not to watch the video and listen to the audio only.

I did that for 2/3 of the video, before I get bored and stopped. To be honest, they ALL sound more or less the SAME to me. Sometimes listening with our ears instead of eyes can be quite refreshing....haha! For guitars, it's often the brand that sways our judgement. As for pedals, it's all about hype and flavour of the season on internet.

:D

Haha, its still Holy Mother Of Dirt Pedals. Where else can you find such a huge pedal shootout? Just that we gotta take the results with a pinch of salt.
