The solid body will have more sustain and focus/punch (maybe that's what you mean by thick faizal_rocks?) but it will not sound as thick as the hollow body.
What the hollow body offers is a thicker ie. deeper and wider frequency of sound, warmer and smoother tone with less attack to the notes. Great for walking jazz lines.
Haha..thanks for the correction, almondx...cos I have an Epi Dot semi-hollow n a Epi Casino hollowbody..as u know, the former has humbuckers while the latter has P-90s so I tend to get mixed up in my description of terms haha
generally from what i've seen in many artists, hollow body cleans and solid body with gain. eg. frusciante, white falcon and strat/lespaul. because the 'warmer and deeper' hollows muddy up your gain a little.
