High Tension Strings

anyone could recommend any brand of strings that provides high tension?

cos there are alot of times when i need to drop D or C#. and the strings would usually feel like "maggie mee".

a friend of mine suggested Curt Mangan.

i usually use Rotosound... but tension wise i'm a total noob to this.

any recommendations or suggestions that i could try out to improve tension?

Hmmm. How about using heavier guage strings? I've read about desert rock guitarists prefering heavier guages cos they often drop tunings by a full step on all strings.

you only need to re-setup if the string tension causes the neck to bow further

DR lo riders supposed to be high tension. there was a softie who dealt with DR cust svc and had them ship a pack over for him

yup.. the resetup is just so u get the proper intonation and action for the heavier gauges... ur bridge action wont suffer much =] i play BEAD tunings and the easiest way i get strings for them is by buying a 5string set... but its getting expensive to do that :(

if the difference is that drastic u might wanna zhng your NUT as well, normally the nut will be cut for standard tuning kind of gauges

well, if u only want to drop D or C# u dont have to zhng your nut coz u can get a sweet sounding C# with the heaviest E string gauge ;) however, if u wanna go the BEAD tuning like me and many out there, then u DO have to zhng ur nut.. or else ur strings wont even fit in the grooves of ur nut anymore :P
