High 'E' string drop in output help!

Hi guys I sent my guitar (Ibanez RGA) for installation of a push pull pot and an orange drop cap about half a year ago.

I did not touch it till now and I just realised that the high e string (1st string) is noticably softer that the other strings through an amp. Acoustically it rings and sounds okay, just the same as the other strings.

What could be the reason for this drop in output? It is the same for both neck and bridge pickup, could it be a faulty orange drop cap or pot?

Hope someone can help me with this, any input will be appreciated :D Hoping it would be a small enough problem so that I can rectify it myself BTW.

Possibly a drop in treble? Just a wild guess but i think you can re adjust the height between the pickups to compensate. This will close the distance between the E string and pickups.

Fret the first fret and compare it with the sound of the open string.
is there a difference in output?

Gene : I even adjusted individual pickup pole heights it doesn't help much.

Seekz : Nope no difference, any other way to diagnose?

Junhao405 : I am having SD JB and Jazz in my guitar, it shouldn't be that case.

Thanks guys, keep the advices coming :D

I was trying to rule out the nut.

maybe try looking at the bridge.
is there a lot of rust or residue clogging the contact points?

strange... its only high E string
have u ever intonate your saddle? if yes check your saddle... has it been locked properly?... fasten the locking bolts
and the strings it self r in fine condition not rusty...
ummm one more question.... what string gauge did u use? .008 /.009 /.010/.011
if its .008, it will sound like what u mention... its weaker than the other strings

Nope guys I don't think it is a problem with the saddles, bridge and nut etc. Acoustically (unplugged) it rings out just as fine as the other strings.

Ya my 1st string is gauge .008. I don't think i am striking it too lightly..

Thanks guys I guess if no one knows I will have to bring it down to a tech, just afraid that he is not able to tell what is the problem also, then end up wiring out all my electronics to test, then charging me more than $40 just to diagnose :(

Thanks anyway! Anyone else??
