HIGH action strings? (Pls help guys)

But what's the defination of HIGH action. How high? Anyway I guess I'll go down to shop to consult. Cause intially I posted dis topic cause I dont wanna waste my money setting up my guitar when my action is good enough.

i think the high and low thing really depends what you play. im guessing if you play with minimal gain eg. blues you would want some height to really dig in the bends, while shredheads would want something as low as possible for minimal fretting touch. or you can strike a compromise.

tho i think through good amplification these tiny nuances are rather insignificant.

i still think you might have adjust your action too high, maybe a pic would be good?

dear trip, you mentioned in the first post bout your guitar teacher right? How about asking him for opinion.

As you know, this one internet forum, got people of many type, each with different preferences. Some might choose to go for low action and compromised on the tone(some mild fret rattle/buzz etc) while some like higher action but no buzz etc.

Imho, the logical answer you are looking for, can be found within your instrument and you. Are you willing to experiment with high action, play till getting used to it and start to listen on whats the tone available from it? After that, change back the action to lower and start the process over again and listen to whats the different. 3 months, 6 months down the road, you might learn something which is special to yourself and not according to our preference or opinion.
