im trying to learn a good music making software, which can produce techno/dance/fast-tempo music with PC, WITHOUT using any instruments, just PC alone

any recommendation?
is it free/downloadable? if not, how much does it cost?

1st like what blueprintstudios say, you need a midi controller. beside that you need an audio interface, sequencer (Cubase, Sonar, Ableton, Reason etc etc), VSTi (NI, waves, etc etc).

So what is your weapon of choice for sequencer, audio interface, midi controller and VSTi?

yeah, but a keyboard that doesn't make sound. just sends signals to modules to make sounds.

midi keyboard controller > sound module > ding dong bell

i see, thanks
i have a few more questions if you dont mind
sorry im a complete noob (level 1 noob with total experience points 85)
but im trying to do some musics for fun

well, basically you guys mentioned audio interface and VSTi ?
what is that?

about midi controller, where can i buy one?

and about sequencer (Cubase, Sonar, Ableton, Reason etc etc), i recently learn about Sonar and Protools etc..
which is the best for techno/dance musics?

and also, to start off i need some kind of a beat tempo. Do i get from the sequencer itself?

laserghost : the boss has spoken. but I'm afraid I can only say this much cos I barely touched midi stuff myself. it's 60% unrelated but you can get some of your answers when it comes to "audio interface" and "DAW" (audio softwares) here : http://tinyurl.com/2nh8dz

have fun, in trance we trust, in love we believe.

Hi laser, chipping in my 2 cents here...

Apart from downloading software tools, you may also like to read up on some relevant magazines to help you gain more understanding behind the processes from composition to arrangement and production, remix, blah blah. Computer Music, Sound on Sound, Keyboard and Electronic Musician are good examples which you can find at larger bookstores here. "Dance Music Manual" by Rick Snoman is also a good book to help you get up to speed...

Like all things, there will surely be an initial learning curve but passion, effort and determination will count in large amounts.

Have fun! :)

sorry i can't help but post this , hi misterK do you provide a course on how you grow that killer stylo beard/goatie thing. I didn't believe that was you till I went to your website with impressive resume.
