Hi-Hat Help!!

I need hi-hat help...my hi-hat screw, u know the one used to hold the top hi-hat to the bar so that u can open and close the hi-hat, is f****d!! I think the threading of the screw is gone...so now, it cannot "lock" itself on the bar...so my hi-hat is always close...Is there anything i can do to solve this problem, or should i buy a new hi-hat attachment screw, if they actually do sell them seperately?

not to mention, the hihat clutch on my stand that came with the stagestar sucks.

everytime must rescrew in.. and the stand cannot take heavy hats.

im sure ixora can agree with this? i read a post somewhere along somewhere stating problems with the quality of the stagestar hat stand. =D

wahh you remembered. your memory is excellent bro. Yes the clutch on the Tama supplied hatstand is terrible. while I'm playing the top hat will just happily 'float' upwards because the clutch is not tight enough, and my open hi-hat suddenly sounds damn weird. and yeah, I'm using Istanbul Mehmets, which are a little on the heavy side so that makes it worse. am saving to get a new stand as I type, lol.

eh mine ok lei...

i guess dont step too hard oso la...unless u really want to achieve the dynamics then different case.like a super dead air tight hi hat sound...

love it dont hate iit... :D

haha yeah Frummer has a stagestar too--maybe yours was made better than mine. I'm not a hard stepper, lol. it's not the closed hihats that give me a headache. rather when I'm trying to practice my open hihat technique, which is already terrible enough, and then my top hat decides to levitate upward and I have to stop and adjust again...lol I'm okay with it. it's just annoying is all. otherwise I love my stagestar ((:

stagestar?

i thought previously it was 600 or something.

so yeah...theres only like a few solutions:
1) New clutch ( but then again if the hihat spring cant handle the weight of a true hihat...den too bad )
2) New Hi-hat stand ( now dont we all want that  )
3) maybe buy a new screw for the clutch locker.

hmm, i have got a problem too. my hi hats are not horizontal, as in one is more slanted than the other so it doesn't sound right when i chick it or hit it when it's open. i think the sponge between the clutch and the cymbal is the problem

stagestar was always around 700 I thought? that's how much mine cost me. yeah, I know what you mean about the hats not being parallel to each other. never thought that it's the sponge though, I always just blamed everything on the clutch.
me, I'm just gonna save for a new hihat stand. a good one would last for a really long time if cared for properly.

that was what I was thinking. I already have a yamaha stand for my crash cymbal. the tama one only gives you one hihat and one for the crash/ride. I added my own cymbals and another stand. the yamaha stand is good stuff man. (:

well if its the bottom piece of the hihat thats slanted...u must check the spring below it...the springs helps to tilt the bottom hi hat...some ppl prefer the sound and attack at gives...the chick you now...its a feature...

but if you guyz already adjsuted that...den maybe its just a bad piece of felt...or the cymbal itself being heavier on a certain side.
