i have done lots of seach myself...i am still stuck in between...thats why i am asking u people who are more experience than me to give me some advice on which kind of effects i should go for...anyway thanks alot for yr reply..it was good..

Beginner to effects? Get to know what each kind does by getting a multifx. But don't even think about getting something as complicated as a GT-8. Get something userfriendly, and upgrade it later on.

Depends on:-
(1) The level of guitar playing.
(2) Where and for what purpose you play.
(3) Which multi-efx or single stomp boxes. There are good and bad multi-efx and stomp boxes.

I started by experimenting on a Boss ME-50 multi-efx unit. It was a very good unit to start with.
