Hey are electric drums expandable??

Hello!... I would like to ask if electric drums can be expanded, meaning adding more toms and hi hat... is it to add more stands and clip them? One seller told me e-drums cannot be expanded.Only Acoustic?? Pls let me know THANK YOU VERY MUCHIEES!

juz wondering tho, wat has expanding e-drums got to do wif your reminder of telling ppl youre ambidextrous?

Hi MusicPebbles,

Electronic kits are very expandable. But there's always a price to pay and expanding your electronic kit would cost you quite a fair bit.

Let's say you're using a TD-3KW (I'm using that), you've got 8 inputs for your pads. I bought an additional cymbal pad and I'm out of free inputs to further expand the kit. Hence if I do eventually want to further expand the kit, I'd have no other choice but to purchase a drum module, like say the TD-20. That would give you more inputs, as well as more avenues of fun/exploration due to the more advanced capabilities of the TD-20.

Who's the seller, if you don't mind me asking?

And like the guys here have said, I don't see why the fact that you're ambidextrous has to do with the creation of this thread. Sounds like you're all high and mighty about it, IMHO.

im no e-expert but from what i've gained reading the V-drums forum, u can use a splitter to use one jack/input on the td3 to use for two inputs to it... meaning for one inpnut u can use a crash and a splash for example...

what about being ambidextrous have any relatedness to expanding eh?

bro, even if we are not ambidextrous.. doesnt mean we can expand the drumset on your left side (if your master hand is right ah..)

if youre saying you wanna put one more hihat.. where wud it be?
lets say youre a ritey, obviously your master hats will be on your left
addtional hats wud be on your right, so still using your right hand..
am i right?
unless youre saying that you wanna add one more hats on your left, and you right hand got difficulty reaching it as its too far and you haf to use your left hand.. den its good ah...

so like i said, expanding haf nuthing got to do wif being ambidextrous....

anyways, happy exploring... and like bro jeepers said, to expand, its better to haf a drum module wif more jacks... splitter wise, aint too sure, maybe its onli for V-drums, not others.. might be....

I'm not too sure about the splitter thing marcdadrummer mentioned, but I think that defeats the purpose of having duo-zone pads? Correct me if I'm wrong. Not sure how the brain of the drum module works.

wad about changing the sound of the pad.....as in, if today, i dun feel like playing on 8' tom bt rather on a 10' tom, cn i change it?? or i dun feel like playing with small crashes today, cn i change the rubber pad to sound like a 19' crash???

yeah sure you can. that's the beauty of e-kits. you can change your setup around as and when you like without having to own a whole arsenal of cymbals.

for example (i'll use the td-3 module since it's most familiar to me), you have a whole range of sounds, more limited than the td-12s or 20s but still a pretty good range to play around with whenever you're bored. from boomy rock sounds to open jazz sounds to electronica.

the only setback is, as mentioned above, the number of stuff you play around with. on the td-3, you've got 2 different hihat sounds, like a handful of crashes (excluding effects), 2/3 rides and so on.

i'm quite frustrated with the variety of crashes (especially) cos they only come in 16" and 18" for the td-3. i'm more of a 17" 18" 19" 20" crash guy.

i've got a whole bunch of complaints about how realistic e-kits actually are but hell, there are sacrifices to be made.
