dunno whether this vid has been posted b4 but, watchin the vid i notice smth on herman's saber series guitar. The trem on his guitar doesnt look like a edge or lo pro trem and looks veri much like a lo trs. can i any1 tell mi how the hell he does those crazy whammy stuff with trs and still remains in tune? or could tat be an ofr?

It can't be an ofr because the trem on Herman Li's guitar is symmetrical.

Its a Lo TRS.

Who knows, maybe he got a nice TRS? You'll find more lemons than a similar working TRS if you went to look.

whoa the first time i've seen any1 du those crazy stuff on a lo trs. wad a lucky guy to have a found a great piece

Well, there are trems on par with the Edge... esp if someone (somehow) prefers a stiffer trem... then a Gotoh or OFR (serviced) will do.

Some do find the Edge too smooth for their liking.

here i go again...

tone is in the fingers....

and i suppose if you whammy using your un-untunable fingers, then probrably the same logic applies to the trem

so here goes...

staying-in-tune is in the fingers

well sometimes....

its not about the gear...

its about the PLAYER.

It can't be in this case Edder, because its a hardware issue, nothing to do with soft skills.

Most of the time though, its MAKE DO lah... but all that disappears when one tries an excellent guitar.

IMHO, too much emphasis are put onto the GEAR. Good gear helps but its not the be all end all.

A player with the chops can make any relatively decent guitar sing no doubt he can sing better with better gear but its still the player.

I'm not argueing with you that those TRS are BAD floyd rose trems  but Herman Li can pull it off. Either his is super limited edition (crediting the GEAR than the player) or he just know how to use it.

Well, I totally agree with you that a good player can make mediocre gear sing. No issue. Absolutely NO issue there.

But lets be focused, its about the TRS trem only.

If you take its make, weaker metals and what not, no matter how magical your fingers, you can't keep it in tune.

A floyd set up well, is set up well. That's all there is, no rocket science there.

Don't have to be taught how to use a floyd rose.

But a floyd with inferior metals or worn posts or something that makes the strings move, will not stay in tune no matter how good the player. Its fact. For the floyd rose.

There have been Jemsiters who have no issues with certain TRS floyds, namely those on the MIJ guitars (e.g. S7420). Some find them above average trems that stay in tune well. Again, more lemons will be found.

actually herman was pretty out of tune when i saw them live, as was he in quite a few videos on youtube...so in this case...its not really the player eh..

i would agree tat a good player would make a lousy guitar sound great. but wad shredcow said is true.rite now it aint abt tone and wad ur fingers can du. in this case ur fingers arent doin anythin, its the whammy bar. if u have a crappy floyd tat doesnt stay in tune, even if u r a great player nths goin to help. so i guess he prob got a gem of a lo trs. mus have been realli lucky or jus set up well. but this are rare cases. i have yet to play a lo trs tat stays in tune after a massive dive bomb. but then again all he was doin was makin wierd sounds and not exaclty playin anythin so whu would noe whether all the strings were still in tune after he did those crazy stuff

interesting enough how he can use a lo trs to such effect... thing is, he wans't really playing anything just making noises so u dont really know how in tune his guitar is right?

Could be having a good setup...

e.g. Lube the knife edges regularly, tighten the trem bar daily, etc etc

Or Ibanez have given him a nice TRS - he is endorsed by them. Note on that vid, his TRS is all shiney and nice despite his guitar looking beat up.

Or. Like what unsane and RazrAsh have said... he does get out of tune but we don't hear it because we haven't seen them live / he doesn't play full chords.

most of his videos of him showing off barely have him playing anything melodic.. especially for the vid posted.. its single string tricks and a lot of whammy usage.. you can do those tricks with a guitar thats out of tune.

Lol yeah its a TRS.

I read the official dragonforce forums where Herman Li posts there regularly, he says that his trem is a TRS. However he tried the ZR trem and he likes it, so he might be switching to a ZR soon though. thats for his S470SOL.

His backup axe, A S-series prestige(cant remember the model number) is using a ZR trem.

I would post the source if i could but sorry, you can only read the forum if you are a registered member.

just some extra info guys. :D
