help with picking hands!

hello! im not sure if any of you encountered this before.

when you guys pick, do you guys anchor you pinkie on the guitar body/corner of the bridge pickup or leave it hanging around in mid-air?

personally i feel that anchoring gives more stability but slows down my speed

ahh.. my guitar teacher scolded me for anchoring it..
and i've trained to leave it in mid air..
i only anchor it when using fingers only..
pick no need..
need extra mobility when using pick..

It's all about comfortability. No correct way as long as you can play.

haha yeah anchoring is definately more comfortable but some speed is compromised

im more comfortable with my hand free. But when i pick fast, i tend to slant my pick.

I anchor my pinkie too, but somehow, I feel that I can play better and faster with my pinkie anchored though :???: I have a feeling my technique is wrong..

haha i used to do the same thing as you when i first started out. my playing became more stable and accurate

but i tried letting my pinkie hang in mid air recently. seems like my speed improves and i dont have a problem with accuracy anymore since im probably a better guitarist now compared to back then
