Help with faulty input jack

It´s the input jack on my les paul..when I plug in, the cable kinda wobbles and all kinds of weird noises come out from the amp. sometimes when I´m on my amp´s overdrive channel, it produces clean sound. I´ll have to fiddle with the cable at the input jack to make the distortion come on.

Anyone have any idea what the hell is wrong with my guitar?

Hi!

It might be due to a loose input jack. U can open the jack up and find a "bent metal strip" that connects to ur lead-cable. U can bend it further inwards to have a better grip on ur lead-cable´s head.

(sorry, i dunch know the proper names of the parts, so if u´re not clear, could someone else fill in the blanks

It´s probably due to wear-and-tear of ur input socket.

OR it could be a problem with the cable. try borrowing one from a friend and trying it out. of the problem doesn´t occur then you should get a new cable.
