Help: Which drumset should I Get?

I'm just a newbie and I know nuts about drums. But I intend to get a drumset and learn. Been thinking about it since last year.

Can someone recommend me whats the best set for a beginner?

I have in mind a 4 Piece Acoustic from PDP but i still need help on what to get cause I dont want to start off on the wrong foot.

Thanks.

hah , do post pics when u get your new kit :)

cheers,

haha i say dun get a calos dun get a 4 piece pdp. why not try a second hand set if you dun mind. maybe you can get a good set? lets say a pearl forum at least or something? haha. 1.5k budget is a good one to work with anyway.

hey thanks for the link...

So I guess I'm suppose to look for somewhere in between a practice and live kit. My preffered wood type would be Maple. I'm not sure about what kind of diameters I should get. And what's a shallow shell?

This fundamental increase in pitch robs the snare's ability to cut through the mix effectively. So what is done to make up for this? Make the 10" snare deeper than a standard snare to increase projection. Ta-daaaaa! You end up with a sharp and quick snare "crack"- great for fills and accents.

Hmmm.. ok so what's that suppose to mean?

longer = louder

maple = PDP.

pdp = 1.9k

many stuff could be found on the site-map of the website.. just click and read, click and read.

can get the peace DNA too...all maple for 1.5 k ...then u could 1st borrow like pearl cymbals from friends that have upgraded their cymbals and dono what to do with their stock cymbals. Then slowly save up for your own cymbals.

yea. peace is a good idea. its a good brand defiantely. used to own one. definately liked it. haha. yup.. get the peace set and maybe find some extra cash for beginner cymbals. then you slowly save for better cymbals which you buy seperately according to your preference.

I would advise to get a peace demolition from ezimusic
www.ezimusic.com
Offer to buy it from him without Hardware, cos the hardware that comes with it sucks... so get your own clamps for the toms, hi-hat stand and stool.
i think that will put you around 1k+/-
And wait for the sweelee mid year sale, to get a AAX stage performance set, probably setting you back around another 400-500

actually i totally agree with myner. lol. ask youself is a 4 pcs enuff for you style if it is. then go for it. cuz i personally feel pdp is good. i own one.. hahaha.. but yea. maybe heed myner advice? or get the DNA and save up for other cymbals.

Birch shells have their own unique charactistics too and they do sound good, esp in recording situations where engineers call them 'natural EQ' wood. I know maple is every1's favourite but do give birch or bubinga some consideration as well. Even maple has different grades available and the lower grade maple is not necessarily superior to birch even tho they are more expensive. Just my personal opinion.

it's true what u said bro.. but never really personally tried or hear a birch shell before but from reading it's profile it's what u said lah..

but maple's popular in that sence and if giving some good tuning to a good ol pdp all maple set would be good enough already.
