Hey Guys!

I want to start recording. (basic recording)

I want to do this way:
Amp>Mic>Usb interface>Laptop.

I already know which mic i'm getting. which is the Shure Sm 57.

But, i don't know which usb interface to get.
and im kinda on budget for the interface, since the shure 57 is $130. (which took up most of my savings)

so is there any good usb interface you guys can recommend me that cost arnd $100??? (max. $150)

this will be a temp. interface for a few months. will upgrade in the future. but now, i'm trying to get the best interface within my budget.

some of my friends told me about the POD interface. the one with the build in guitar effects and stuff, but i don't really like it. i want the sound coming out from my amp.

Anyone can help me in this? will appreciate every single reply.

Thanks in advance! :D

P.S. I know very very little about recording.

You don't have to use the built in effects or software of the interface, you can just go from amp>mic>interface to whichever program you're using to record. A second hand Line 6 Toneport or M-Audio Fast Track will probably fit your budget.

Why would you need to upgrade in the future? There won't be any noticeable difference in quality between different low to mid-range models until you really go high-end, then it's still debatable. The main difference is the number of inputs, if you need more than the 1 or 2 XLR or 1/8" inputs provided in the basic models

yeah what carboxymoron has highlighted , 2nd hand line6 or maudio , if not consider one of those XLR > USB audio interfaces. I've helped you with the link here it's nice to hear you're insisting on miking the real thing hehe.

Hey! Thanks for the reply!
So i can just use the Toneport as a interface to record with my mic?
i will be using Audacity.

So it will be:
Amp>mic>toneport>audacity?

There's a user on soft Pm me.
He is selling his Line 6 Toneport GX for $100.

Does this USB interface can be a interface for the mic?
(will not be using the built-in stuff, just want to use it for the mic)

Possible?

will be using Audacity to record btw.

And how do i connect the XLR cable to the toneport (if i were to buy it from him)
