hey sub...how does the weight of Tokai LP compares to the Gibson one? cos the Edwards LP are lighter den the original LP weight...and i do think its even lighter den my sz320

hmm thanks for all the info guys... really appreciate it!

wat abt heritage LPs? like the ones at guitar77... are they any good?

For the price, I would probably go with the Jap copies like Edwards, Orwell, etc.

Haha light is good man...if you can get a similar tone to a real LP, then you'll appreciate the weight reduction la. You can just die from shoulder ache.... but if its too light, it might be prone to feedback if they bore cavities in the body to reduce weight. My Ibanez copy is like this and is a feedback king, which can be quite irritating sometimes.

I dont know about you guys la, but I would pick the edwards if I didnt already have a LP. A real nice copy from the pics. I would change the knobs though...

You do need some mass to sound big... its not just the pups or the amp... thin guitars like the Ibanez Sabers, sound thin and tight... LPs sound heavy and "loose". Bring that over to same guitar, diff wood mass.

it feedbacks like crazy with the stock pickups or u had aftermarkets put in?
you prolly need to b elike a 335 kinda hollowed out to cause it to feedback like what you say.

use ur pick and tap your pickup. if you can hear the tapping tru your amp. Ur pickups are very microphonic. even if you dun hear it it might still be microphonic, some of the oem pickups might not have been wax potted.

i bought the Tokai LS70 and it rocks to me at least. might want to give that a try. subby made some great recommendations so do check them out. cheers

I've read about it before and in most cases, potting the pickups and shielding does help a bit. However, the nature of the body is the main cause for the feedback. Many people have reported similar instances. It's definitely not semi-body hollow but apparently is made up of many cavities. It's really light when I compare it with my gibson and I can only imagine how many there are...

Most people don't use it on stage cos of this problem, yeah but its great to play with and excellent as backup.

the Burny is rather hefty. heavier than the SE Singlecut definitely- the lightest amongst the guitars listed above.

of the guitars mentioned above, if you wanna replicate a Gibson tone through & through, the Tokai is recommended. the Burny comes second, the pickups in there lacks clarity & overall character.

the Edwards/ PRS SE can replicate an above-average bottom end thump but it also offers clarity in the package. if you think you need to cut through during solos, these are the ones to choose.

Hm went down to davis..

The Edwards LP outside doesnt have the zebra pickups, but both pickup are black. Are they the same thing? Just curious..
