i've just bought myself a midi to usb cable.

i get to install the drivers and stuffs.
Then i started to try playing the keys on my keyboard (CASIO CTK 496)
and the midi In cable lightens up each and everytime i hit a note.

but when i try to use it as a midi controller in FL studio,
the software dosent seem to recognize the keyboard.
and therefore i cant select it to use as a midi controller.
even when i used midi-ox , it says no midi input.

so whats the problem here ? maybe any MIDI-pros know ?

been trying every single way.
every help will be much appreciated. Thanks bros !

i have been facing with the same problem. mine is using yamaha keyboard and Ableton Live 6. please help. thanks!

Sorry to the thread starter. It seems the question was asked sometime ago and nobody responded. Must have missed it. Hope you problem is resolved.

Iconoclast, can you tell us what Yamaha keyboard are you hooking up to your PC? USB direct from keyboard or via a midi interface? Have you selected the correct midi input from Live?

are you using vista? i had this midi 2in 2out that used to work with my xp, but when i changed to vista, no drivers were recognized. i asked the manufacturer for help, and they say it's because of vista's drivers. one possible way of bypassing is to extract a few files from an xp computer and paste it in the vista one. i haven tried it yet though.

Its been awhile that i use FL. Your Midi cont lights ups, so your hardware is recognize by the cont. Your driver should be working. Problem is your FL software. Have you configure the Audio settings? Midi Input/Output tab, select your midi cont input/output setting.(1x1 ctrl etc, i think that's how they recognize the midi header) Then set your latency or USB buffer.
Ableton is the same under the trigger option, switch on the controller to remote.
Hope this helps. Cheers. :D

Sorry for the late respond.

I'm trying to connect my Yamaha PSR-195 Keyboard via MIDI to my POD X3 Live MIDI inputs. The settings are basically like this:

Keyboard MIDI Out --> POD X3 Live MIDI In
POD X3 Live MIDI Out/Thru --> Keyboard MIDI In

However my Ableton Live 6 doesn't recognize the keyboard/MIDI inputs as the MIDI Sync tab in Preferences menu shows no inputs at all.

I've tried using the MIDI to USB cable but still no signals.

Thanks.

May I suggest
Keyboard MIDI Out --> POD X3 Live MIDI In
POD X3 Live MIDI Out/Thru --> MIDI to USB MIDI In (also connect this one to your computer's usb port using a standard usb cable).

Go to the MIDI preference in Live 6 and select MIDI to Usb as MIDI input.

You should be good to go.
btw, is it the MIDI Mate?

Best.
R.
