the thing is, there is always this blue screen telling me that the computer needs to restart due to improper installation of hardware, error, etc..

im not sure what to do..
which hardware i need to reinstall?
what do i need to do to prevent this error?
ive never solved any of the problems before, and i hate to deal with computer-related problems..

i plan to reformat the whole thing, but i do not have the operating XP cd..
any idea where do i get one?
i dont plan to lug the desktop out of the house..

im sure many of u are all well-computer-educated people..
help me out yeah?

Hi Dude..

Did you tried to install some new hardware or anything like that? Any specific hardware that the error message describes/require reinstallation? Well bro, it could be a million and one thing....

Anyways, this could be due to some missing or corrupted system files. Hard-disk and RAM could also be the issue. In troubleshooting a PC yourself, google is your very best friend. Note down the error message, and try to google it, you might be able to find something. :)

Here's some solution, hopefully it helps (I never experience it before)..
1. Remove all USB devices (except for mouse and keyboard) connected to the PC when booting up. No GO? Try next one...
2. I assume, Windows could not boot up at all. But can you boot Windows in Safe Mode? You can do this by pressing some F button during the startup. When you boot the PC, you might be able to see BOOT MENU or SYSTEM SETUP options, usually before the Windows XP logo is shown. If you can go into safe mode, then you could do further diagnostic there. Go to device manager, see if there's anything missing there. No GO? Try next one...
3. Re-format the PC?? Well Acer usually dump the system recovery image in the harddisk. Usually when you buy a PC, you get all the system recovery, drivers and software programs in a CD. But Acer usually load all this files in the hard-disk. So if you manage to boot Windows one-way or another, then you can try to retrieve the files, either run from windows itself or burn them into cd then re-install XP. If you can't then you can purchase Win XP cd from computer stores, can try Sim Lim or Funan. The Prof edition might roughly cost you around 250. But just note that you might need to get the drivers for your devices. Usually you can get it on Acer website.

Well bro, these might just give you a head start only. It's just the normal procedures of troubleshooting, like I said it could be many things. If really the blue screen of death doesn't go away, then you might want to send it to Acer at jurong east, if you still have warranty. All the best bro.. Hope it helps..

its a hardware problem. Either the driver is not working properly, or ur hardware isn't.

Try reconnecting the hardware and reinstalling the driver.
