how? i took out the ring the screw fell, its a humbucker.. HELP ME! i took out my strings, removed my ring, so i am left with springs, 2 long screw drivers and 4 screwdrivers for the ring.

ok..
2 spirngs and 2 long screws go onto the pickup..
at the pickup ends there should be that lil threadlike thingy for u to eget the screws in..
arrange such that u insert..screw into ring then spring to screw and finally pickups..
from there.. the 4 short screws are for you to screw thr ring onto the guitar..
hope this helps..

my spring is longer than my screw is, so i need to compress it real hard for my screw to screw into the "screw holes" in the pickup. is this any wrong? it is very difficult to get the screw in when i have the spring on! and also, should i do the above or should i start by screwing the 4 screws on the ring instead first?

anyway, how can a pickup be spoilt? i kind of place my screw driver near the poles of my pickups, it gets attracted. will this spoil my pickup? help me please

a pickup works by sensing the various magnetic fields from vibrating strings, just like a cassette tape if you place a strong magnet next to the pickup for a prolonged period of time this will cause the particles to rearrange themselves accordingly hence spoiling the pickups/cassette.

oh by the way do not mix up the pickup rings for the bridge or neck if you removed both, if you look closely there are different planes at different angles to suit the arc of the guitar top. The edge(breadth if you look from the side) of the pickup ring should be sloping upwards from the neck towards the brigde.

As long as you use the orginal springs I foresee no problems with the tight compression, you can always trim the springs slightly to suit your own taste but exercise caution.

next tyme if spring WAY too long for pup screw..just get wire cutter & slightly trim the spring.... 8)
