wyldeboon's job is a form of "efficient working" in today's society.
economy bad, settle for any job, but work effort at its worst. keng wherever can keng.
economy good, keng lesser, but of course if you like your job or the most comfortable you can get, work when there's a stack of crap on your table.
but in whatever economy, workplace must have internet so can surf soft.com.sg so time at work passes faster lol RIGHT ALL?!
like what sid4iwpa said , what he says about composing is very true. that's why there'll be producers (seems) almost desperately trying to promote/overhype themselves, when the real fact is they're just doing what they can to continue their passion. any band would promote themselves shamelessly to try make it big and the dream is to earn a living as a touring musician and still pay off bills.
but to requote what sid4iwpa said in my own context :
when you're young do whatever you can do cos you got the energy.
by the time you approach older age, you'll know what you really want in life. as most singaporeans are living their parents' lives or simply someone else's expectations or comparisons.
no matter what, just keep upgrading/equipping yourself with multiple skills. be it studies, be it self study, be it experience or confidence. I always say singaporeans are talented in the sense that we all can multitask well, and singaporean musicians even better, we lead double/triple lives and this discussion had appeared in past soft threads before but i can't find it now lol.
1) you gotta work your 9to5 for the $$$ and cheer yourself up by GASing.
2) you quit your 9to5, and try to simply do what you love, but risk converting what is fun into work! and if you fail, you got nothing. (except experience)
3) you retain financial security in your 9to5, and from 6to12 you do what you love on a serious note hoping you'll get your big break = funktastic said : workaholic. I'm this example. I gotta go monthly treatment on my torn ligament in my right feet but I even got the TCM practitioner to do acupuncture for my ears/improved hearing. music/audio has literally been integrated into my lifestyle. but really ask yourself : DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING BETTER TO DO IN SINGAPORE?
if you work hard for your dreams, you're a workaholic
if you quit and relak do nothing, you're a jobless bum
if you relax do nothing and sponge off your parents and jobless , you're a total loser.
if you work as your parents's dreams (lawyer/doctor etc) and excelled, but only to quit a $5digit salary for an income 5 times lesser but your passion + freedom, you're stupid but a really happy stupid fella and I read about a few of these guys on the papers.
if you plan to start your own business, make sure you do calculated risks avoid being in major debt which you can't recover from should you fail. (P.S : don't give me the all business have risks bs. then it makes no difference from going down to the new casino and dump your life savings on the roulette.)
which one would you pick?
to TS : I'm stubborn in a sense that , I have a "ibochap" attitude including just simply running over any obstacle that gets in my way in a "just do it. regret later" sense. If you got no options : create one. if you got no time, make time.if you got no talent, work hard so you "appear to have talent" (demoralising).if you got no experience, get out there and get experience. if you hate your job, quit it.so when a couple of years later should you create another thread saying "I hate my passion, regret quitting my job" , then your mind will be convinced to not hate and cherish working commitment.all win win situation.
