help! i don't know what's wrong with my monitor!

i don't know what's wrong with my monitor screen resolution! all the colours are at the lowest quality and the icons are huge. i can't upload a screenshot of it, and even after repeated attempts of changing the settings, restarting and shutting down the com, it still doesn't work.

what's wrong with it??

graphic card driver issue?

The bad resolution and huge icon kinda fit in when graphic card driver havent been installed

try checking the device manager to see if theres any yellow question mark with any of the devices.

if not, search for the graphic card driver online, reinstall and see how it goes.

Could be because he was playing an old game running under "Compatible" mode. Happened to me. Do you know how to run Windows in Safe Mode? Do that, and sort out your problems from there. Update us here, we'll try to help.

hi all. thanks for the replies!

rayknight> before this, i was just surfing the net, not playing any games. restarted the computer cos it lost connection (happens quite often so not much of a big deal.) after restarting, it became like that.

and about the latest driver thingy? so is it a programme problem or something inside the cpu came out/loosened? haha. sorry for the lack of usage of technical jargon, i'm really clueless at IT stuff.

its not mostly about yr monitor. mayb its your graphic card. check if your graphic card has really been plugged in and check yr drivers yea.

It could be the monitor is dying. I encounter once that I have to set the resolution lower and lover. Then down VGA, I change it.

anyway, i replugged all the cables and it's still not working.

and about drivers..what are those/how do i check? :/
does checking the graphic card involves dismantling the cpu? and what am i supposed to look out for? (sorry if i sound really whiney and pathetic.)

its definately a graphics card issue~

prolly something got disconencted somewhere or got uninstalled thats why its back to the very simple res. and colour depth~

you can just open the case and make sure everthing is Tight and in it's place, you also want to make sure that the power is off and unplugged as a precaution.

for the drivers, you'll hafta goto the device manager and check to see if there are any unreconised or faulty drivers marked with a "!" icon or somehting.
