HELP!!! Hofner Guitar...

I recently got my hands on a old hofner electric guitar. The vinyl paint is busted and the pickups are probably damaged. From what I know it is a guitar from the 1960's.

I want to know how much it is worth. Cuz I got an offer for it at $300 which I think might be a rip off since my uncle got it for a bigger sum back then. Do hofners depreciate? I have a friend who told me otherwise...

Anyway, I would really like some advice and I don't know if anyone makes things up, but I do hope that I can get some genuine help.

I can't find it. But now I only know it has a "Diamond Logo" Super Long Response pickup... That's about it. I have no serial numbers or any prints. Maybe that was removed long ago...And i can't find a plaec to mail to or an email address to post queries.

But thanks anyway. (:

imho Hofner guitars are not that well known in Singapore. therefore you might not get a good price here due to demand.

the condition of the guitar is pretty bad to be honest. since you said that the electronics are busted, that would probably knock down the price a little more. if the neck is out of shape, that would be worse. i've seen 2nd hand hofners in good playing condition selling for $1000+.

fixing it up would cost quite a lot of money. if there is sentimental value to it, I guess you can go ahead and send to a shop.

Looking at pathein's site its most likely a selmer distributed v2 super solid between 61- 63.

Unlikely its after 63 cos they got rid of the rectangular console then. Also around 63 dot markers were replayce by rectangular blocks. Also unlikely that its from the cheaper collorama series as the bridge indicates otherwise. Why not try restoring the guitar's electronics and see how it sounds like first? Who knows u might have just found yourself a gem.

Thanks for the helps guys. I think I have a good idea of when the gitar was made...but still looking to fetch a good price. Thanks for the help. (:

good price can be subjective(and whether are there anyone who is remotely interested to pay), with the condition of the geetar, guess you might have to be realistic as well. Unless theres an overhaul done(paint job, electronic, resetup, fret working etc)

Anyway, for the price, you can try searching on ebay, for a rough gauge on how much people are selling those..

Hofner can be considered a niche collection, even if its vintage(from 50s/60s/70s), it still wont reach the level compared to bigger brands from that era...
And collectors in term of money, wont really collect this, for monetary reason.

Anyway, it would be great to see the guitar revert back to its former glory and use for music making!

the back is damn niec imo. i like it, it looks damn reliced. 300 is kinda low imo.
i mean you gotta test the sound. like you said, long responsive. then i guess its too low.
