hi!
i wld like to ask if you guys can give me some recommendations for guitar songs. the types of songs im looking for are themed- happy and sad.
haha yeah. this is for a school guitar concert and we are pretty open to all genres of music. but i want to make sure that i have gathered enough info before deciding on the best option of choice piece. do enlighten me on this cos it is the first time im helping my cca to choose the choice pieces so i certainly do not have such experience!!

wooo what do you mean guitar concert?
school band? electric? acoustic? alot of guitars? a few guitars?
all guitars? percussions included?

be specific and we can help you better.
cheers =)

oh it's the 6-7 of us in the section (it's a section item you see). and i suppose some of us can play the piano, percussion (drums shldnt be a problem if it's not too difficult xD) and the violin. haha yeh....

ive tried out a few simple songs today and have encountered some problems....

i realise that replacing the vocals part with guitar as the melody line (classical guitar, and bcos it's a guitar concert so i suppose guitar should have the prime part) does not sound very good. is it due to the type of song i chose (maybe some songs do not go well with guitars as main melody)? or maybe i shld consider using accoustic, electric guitars, instead of classical ones? wa...i sound really really inexperienced sia =P

and also, any idea if i should modify the melody part to suit guitar-playing? cos so far im only playing the main melody notes with guitar (as in, one note by one note, not in chord form)...and i thought maybe there can be another way to rewrite the melody part for guitar. hmm....haha

and thanks for the recommendations!! i'll go do some research now heh.

cliffs of dover is cool... i would go tender surrender by steve vai though.. or glasgow kiss by john petrucci. but a bit draggy cos of the classical orchestration style of his songs
