Hi, I bought a Gibson SG Stand Ebony new two weeks ago. Today, I notice both hambuckers lose and shaky (up & down but not sideway) but still attached. The sound and tone is normal as before. Could this be normal from the factory or something is wrong ? I'll be grateful for advice. Thank you.

Don't worry, the humbuckers are abit lose. Unless of course it moves a tremendous amount else its quite normal.

Many thanks for the advice from all of you. I have a Fender Strat '57 re-issue & Fender Tele Deluxe maple. I heard many complaints on Gibson. But SG is something I like for that rock sound. Of course now I found out the workmanship not as good as Fender. I'm in Bangkok & visited some small shops that made their own guitars without any brand name. I visited this shop http://www.guitarandpickup.com/. A father and son operation. The father makes the guitars & the son speaks English. I tested their 'PRS' & Las Paul replicas. Wow ! I was shocked by the built quality & sound. Superb ! But the price is Thai Baht 30,000 per piece. My Gibson SG Standard (from authorised dealer) costs me Baht 41,400. Sad to say is better built than my Gibson SG. I'm thinking in the long run in case I want to trade (with Baht 9000 more), a Gibson will be much easier than a something brandless.

the pickup moving in its slot is a common problem.
not only in gibsons...
jacksons, fenders etc...
easy way to fix it is to put a piece of foam under the pickup.

With the fenders, you can't see cause the pickups are mounted on the pickguards or on the bridge in the case of the tele.
So it doesn't really move.

But humbuckers can move a little, no big deal.

You can do your humbuckers like how Carvin does theirs. 3 screws.

Vigier Marilyns also have more screws (4!) to stabalize the pup - more sustain/tone/mojo they say!
