Dear fellow keyboardists,

I am looking for buying CME-PRO UF6 USB MIDI keyboard controller. Can any one advise me the pro's & cons..also the dealer/sale price in Singapore ?

Thanks in advance...

Bong !!! I am getting in to computer music !!! No more gears!!!!

pros - red colour, lots of knobs, lots of sliders, hip to be to
use usb-midi controller, hip to use software synth/sampler,
open concept for wide usage.

cons - made in China, ever heard from a Citymusic salesguy,
his CME8 broke down on him when he needs it for a gig.

oh yes! nowadays is open system with a computer/mac
running a sequencer software adding your required
softsynths and samplers.

good for everyone, centralised computing and processing;
for unforseen circumstances you may need a mirrored site
for diaster recovery for your hours and hours of music data
if your computer system ever crashed on you - 'blue screen of death' ???
too bad many sequencing software don't support RAIDS, eg Pro Tools !

it's true - no more gear, no more hardware.
WHAT YOU NEED IS A POWERFUL COMPUTER
WITH HIGH PROCESSING POWER AND HIGH RAM
MEMORY POWER !!!
and of course a usb-midi controller.
add the software with the sounds as you need.

KORG OASYS concept is an open system where
the OS can be upgraded and new synth engines can be
added. OASYS is running Linux OS on a P4 2.8 GHz CPU,
40Gb HDD with high expandable RAM.

Looks like KORG realized the market requirements and introduced
the OASYS to compete with the software market as like
Digidesign Pro Tools and TC powercore.

So what's next for Roland and Yamaha ???

These two companies make other successful
products like digital piano, pro audio besides
synth workstation, so probably not much
innovation from them in this area.

Bong,

Thanks for the reply....

Lowjk/cheez.....got any idea about this CME stuff ?

Can you please let me know the Singapore dealer/price ? I am in Jakarta...and want to compare... :)

Doesn't Iansoh or somebody in SOFT own one?

I've not tried it out myself. So far as I know, most people who owns it in the sampling world loves it. They think it's way better than the other competitors like M-audio's Keystation. But most of the reviews I've heard is UF8. I can't tell you about the UF8 since the keys are different. UF8 keys are GEM's weighted keys.

As for Bongman's comment about UF8 breaking down, I've not heard of anybody else who has one has it died on him. I guess anything can break down. Just like my SY99 - bought it within a few weeks when it first came out. Brought it home - and it hangs on me. It didn't even survive 2 hours. The Yamaha guy then tried to make me believe it's the patch settings and tried to get the particular patch that causes haning to work by adjusting the EG and LFOs etc. Of course it didn't work, and he echanged a new one for me. No joke trying to bring the SY99 to and fro.

Although M-audio's 88 keystation is really quite bad, their 61 keys may not be too bad after all. If you're looking for something within the 61 key range, you're no longer looking for touch but ease of control (lots of knobs and faders etc).

CME products are at city music not really sure but you can ask tera he got one. or if you are really in need for reply you could call them up : )

hii, er.. the distributor for CME is at parklane mall i think, beside paradiz. i not sure wad that place is called liao LOL, but im using UF8, its great

the local CME dealers have shifted the business to be based in KL i believe. i haven't actually been informed directly. the shop space at parklane is owned by someone else now.

i believe there's already a dealer in indonesia for CME products. thats the reason why the singapore-registered company (LSR Consultancy) only handles singapore and malaysia. you'll probably be better off getting from indonesian dealer.

as for key action, it is heavy. if u've never heard of weighted synth action keys, the CME UF has it. significantly heavier compared to korg, yamaha, roland. the keys still spring up fast like all synth action keys, but requires more force to press down.

i don't own a UF7 anymore. it is now with the owner of the shop space that LSR used to occupy. u might find another UF6 or 7 at city music, but it's probably one of their last few pieces. can't remember exacty pricing but from what i recall, it followed the MSRP quite closely. so just do the conversion from USD to SGD and u have a rough gauge of what prices to expect.

Thanks to all who replied..There is a dealer in Jakarta...selling at MSRP and does not want to give discount....(may be he thought I am a Singaporean !! )

So, as such there is no one selling CME stuff in Singapore now ?

I am looking for UF6 or UF5...If I could get second hand also Ok....Any help..or lobang please..
