Help appreciated~

*Hint the ST-130 has a Humbucker in the bridge and looks good :P

yea u'd want a humbucker in the bridge position for ur riffs. if u're not sure of the terms in the sentence, do some searching on google or on soft in the old threads. bound to yield some answers. and while ure at it, u can research on the old threads on gears to make a more informed decision.

You might want to try LTDs btw. It sounds alright for a guitars for starters. Davis Guitars sell them.. You might wanna try to go to the shop and try it... All the best :)

Due to my seriously tight budget, i only can pick either the ST-30 or the EG310.. Do you guys know which is more suitable for The gazettE's songs?
Thanks alot :)

here's my suggestion, from the eg310, save up another $8. yes just $8. then get the ST-130. the ST-30 is made with ginko body. i've never heard of the material before. sounds like ginko nut to me though :p the ST-130 is made of american alder (or at least thats what it says) and at least we know that alder is a more balanced tone wood. u can still try the ST-30 and EG310 though. and if u like it then get it. but u cant go wrong with alder on most genres of music. just get the right amp when u have the money. like when u start working part time or something lol :D

So i should try out all EG310, ST-30 and ST-130? Im new to electric guitars, so when i try them out, what frets must i press?

If you really want to get from citymusic, I think you should get ST-130 as bf0502tr mentioned. American Alder is a plusplusplusplus point.

However, I don't have good impression of their guitar default factory setup though. I'm not sure if they will provide a free setup for you haha.

Since you just started, the 12th fret and above wouldnt matter right? :D
Once you become a more seasoned player, bring it for a setup. :)

if u truly wanna be sure ur guitar isn a lemon, then go through the trouble of testing every fret on every string. yes every fret fret-able. make sure they all ring out. if still uncertain, ask a friend to accompany u. a not so advisable way would be to ask the shop assistant to help test it out for u. tried that once at davis, bugger just shredded everything and i could get nothing informative about the tone. not sure abt citymusic though.

I dont have any friends who play the guitar, but i will try my best though :)

Well... to be VERY VERY honest, budget guitars like Craftman guitar's... for myself lah, i wouldn't expect to much from it. I personally have not tried one and base whatever i say on peoples recommendation and price, cause its damn near impossible to get a real good starter pack with your budget but it IS achievable.

Anywho, like as mentioned, The wood difference, honestly i'd go for the ST-130, i dont know the price diff between the ST-30 and the ST-130 with the package, but looking at the individual price with the EG310 and the ST-130, i'd go for the ST-130.

And so true like above, all i knew about Ginko was that it's a nut hahahah :P

Again, whatever has been said here, take it with a pinch of salt. In my first post i said go check out LTD's, but the lower models are made with Agathis which is a love hate sorta thing lah :), i personally have no qualms against it, just some people despise it.

To sum it all up, whatever we say, it doesn't matter cause YOU are choosing the guitar and all, we can HELP and give our INPUT but ultimately, you have to be a man and make the decision hahahah.

So my ADVICE is, screw the ST-30, and go for the ST-130 cause if you were willing to spend 400 on the Guitar ALONE, i'm sure you can squeeze out EASILY an extra 100 to pay for the better set as to bu an amp and bag and strap and picks and all of that would DEFINATELY cost more than $100.

Dont compromise on quality if you top up a'lil more to get something much better :)

Hmm, but what i wanna learn is the gazette's songs, and i saw a few covers and the guitars have 24 frets and they use mostly the last fret and the ST-130 has only 22, if i get the ST-130, can i still learn the songs?
Im really puzzled by this one.

Play on a higher strings?:p

Lets say you're playing a High E on the B string... just play on the E string, 12th fret or something like that :) unless theres a major bending session at the High E string, THAT would be dangerous cause for me, it always snaps when i try to bend it a full note :P

lol then get a random softee who's free on the day u wanna go down and test for u lor. then make friends with him/her. maybe can get free lessons along the way :p

anyway, when ppl play close to the 24th fret its cos they're solo-ing. as u are now, u prob only learn the rhythm section. but u can also do a full bend on the 22nd fret to hit the 24th fret note. or if u really want, use ur whammy bar and tap the high E just above the neck pickup. it's the 24th fret and it should ring if u put it there properly. but dont worry abt the 24th fret for now. get ur fingers shaped up for chords 1st.

+1 to whammy's :D LOVE'EM.... not the Floyd Rose kind, just the normal trems :D

For starter pack, I would highly recommend the LTDs for 24 frets. Thier QC is way better than those Ibanez can offer.

LTD's have the 10 series which comes in a set, but imo it isn't really good after trying out. The amp atleast, and they give a shit bag however it DOES come in 24 frets :)

Wow, the prices for LTDs are stunning.. Then i shall get the ST-130 :)
Thanks for all your help guys! :p

Aye i went to try out the ST-130 already....the piece i tried had a pretty ok setup, comfortable enough altho the more finicky people might complain. Tonewise the thing sounded really good, altho American Alder might be an overstatement. Just that there were some uneven frets........some buzzing when i tried pressing the 16th fret but nothing too serious. All in all, great for the price, altho the tone isn't really my fav, but good choice.
