Seraph- the name calls to mind angelic connotations, but the reference to the six winged seraphim points mainly to the six members of this Chinese/Japanese original music outfit.
Outrageous and bold in expression, Seraph persists as a visual rock project that explores aesthetic elements of Japanese rock and the aural addictiveness of modern pop rock by fusing rhythmic guitar lines with melodic keyboard riffs. The band has been capturing the hearts of many in the local Japanese Rock scene since the fun began at their debut on 14 Oct 2006 at Gashaus (114 Middle Road) for “Frosted Fire”, part of the venue’s monthly Japanese Rock series. This resolved as a suitable prelude for a showcase at the Asian Civilization Museum on the 15th of Oct 2006, opening for Channel U’s Superband Finalist Lucify for “Gravity Infiniti 2”. This seminal display showcased their incredible talent as newcomers to the younger non-english market with a burgeoning fanfare of applause. The Sextet has also made their mark on the mainstream English indie-rock scene with a stunning performance at FLOW! On 5th of December at Ministry of Sound (The Cannery, Clarke Quay), opening for Australian Industrial Outfit Divine9 and playing alongside local headliners Plain Sunset, Concave Scream, West Grand Boulevard and Saw Loser.
Citing Japanese influences like X Japan, Raphael, Gazette with unusual hints of power metal like Galneryus, Seraph seeks to craft original pieces that cuts close to the heart.
"...And the senior brand manager of Jack Daniels listens to metal! He even made a comment that AOTS drummer should get some dark crashes - perhaps even heavier Sabians rather than Zildjians"
Wah.... is he gonna sponsor me with it? lol Kinda broke right now, but I'll definitely be getting new cymbals soon. Dammit why was the previous stage drums sold away... should've sold this current set instead! Grr...
