headstock/tuners

i've recently noticed that my bass (a cheap ibanez starter kit soundgear passive 4-string p/j thing) which is very dear to me has survived a tonne of abuse from being bumped around and knocked into things.

as a result, my machine heads/tuning head things are cracked and rattle and turn. they don't reallly affect my tuning that noticably, but i long for nice firm tuning heads again.

what are my options? do they repair cracked tuning heads? would it make more sense to get a new set? where and how can I get them done, and how much would it cost?

thanks guys =)

i'm guessing they would be gotoh sets since it's ibanez. i think davis sells them. you can try music theme if they don't. music theme might have cheaper ones but you pay for the quality.

where can i get a decent set of tuners installed for me, preferably of a standard better than what came on the ibanez starter kit?

and how much will it set me back? =)

i think davis should have gotoh tuners. those should set you back about 70 dollars i think. the holes on the headstock should be the same size so you can actually do the change yourself. it's a pretty standard procedure. if you don't want to do it, i'm sure the people at luther, davis or g77 can do it easily. the guys at luther drilled and installed the tuners on my bass for 20 bucks but that included the drilling. i provided the tuners of course.
