halfastepdown's acoustic covers

Watch the video again. Take the song part by part. And work on each part till you've got it right. You've better than average and you've got potential, but you need to work. Be consistent on the pronounciation. And learn to relax, mate. To me, i feel you're pushing the vocal cords a bit too hard. And if i were you, i'd take the key 1 semitone up. I think you're holding back.

After all this, do another recording.

Yea agreed, I've always pondered on whether to play it in standard tuning or to drop it 1 step down. I don't really know if I'm holding back, but at least I feel more comfortable singing it in the lower key.

I will keep working!! Thanks for your comments, appreciate it

a greaat song that i've suddenly been listening to alot recently.
but i think for this song you need to reach the pitch that teddy uses in the song.
and yesh, i think you're holding back too.
but a pretty good cover nonetheless (:

I can't listen to your recordings right now, but I want to comment about the idea of "holding back". In my experience, people say it when they hear singing that doesn't sound free. So it's an indication that it sounds like you are trying to "control" your singing too much. From an SLS perspective, it means you're using muscles other than those needed for singing.

And it doesn't matter so much whether you feel you are holding back or not .. often you can have a totally different intention, but what the listener hears is "holding back".

Hmm.. I think I need to find a coach to see if I'm indeed holding back, because I feel as if I'm not!

In the original key that Teddy Geiger uses, it would be C#m B A for the verse. Then throw in a F# before you go into the chorus. Chorus is A B C#m B A with a little variation. There's a E F# A at the end of the chorus -> For you I will.

Do I sound confusing? Haha! It's best to watch him perform and figure out yourself :) It's good training too.
