Guitar Theft at Guitar Connection on 28 Sept

He called a few hours after the vid was uploaded, but now it's down, yeah, he'll have to stay low for a while. He learned his lesson

You mean he visited this forum, saw the posted video of him in the act, and then called up to Kev admitting he stole a guitar from his store? haha.. walau eh, what a sianz boy !

More importantly, was police report made? And is the police charging him for theft? Stealing a $5K item is not a trivial matter and in normal precedence, it means imprisonment.

I'm guessing when the video was posted, he realised the game was up as he knew he will be arrested sooner or later. Therefore he owned up hoping charges will not be pressed against him. Just a hunch.

My thoughts exactly. These type of people dot deserve a second chance. Please make a police report and let the authorities handle him. From the video, it looks as if this is not the first time he is stealing from a store. Everything too well planned and he was too calm.

Like what guitarsan said. He knew it was sooner or later that he is gonna be caught so he's trying to look for a easier way out, hoping that guitar connection will drop charges. He didn't surrender himself to guitar connection because he felt guilty or anything, he did it because his face is plastered all over the Internet now.

Please don't be fooled by his actions. He's just trying to gain sympathy.

And you can say this confidently because you're... psychic?

I'm not defending the guy. Police report should still be made. Just questioning your judgement.

He only turned himself in AFTER the video gone "viral" and his face is plastered all over the net. The guitar was stolen on the 28. That's 4 days which he took. Is it not obvious enough? Im sure if he really felt bad and guilty, he would have turned in earlier before the videos and shit

+1.. my words exactly n GC, do make a police report. Judging by his actions on video, he had intent to commit the crime, not the spur of the moment thingy. That meant tt he had planned beforehand as well. N the police shld b paying a visit to his house as well n check his gear, he may haf also stole them, a serial thief for all we know. This idiot nids to be taught a lesson!

+1. Bet tt if there is no video, he wld be laughing at GC's incompetent security measures, at how easy the theft was done. For all we know, he wld be making another trip to another round of free guitar in GC.

GC will not be pressing charges against this guy. We have settled this case internally. A police case was made but they told us that if we can solve it within our own means, we do not have to make this a police case.

We have taken down the video after a discussion with his parents yesterday at noon. He turned himself in on the night a few hours after the video was posted.

However, this guy is still in deep trouble cos he did not steal from just GC alone. He has stolen other guitars and pedals from other shops and now it's up to those shops whether they want to have him charged or not. His future & reputation is gone at such a young age.

We told him to come clean and tell us what are the other items that he has stolen from other shops. He only admitted to stealing more items when the police got involved.

The police had to get involve since the response on stomp was overwhelming. That was beyond our control.

I would say that Kelvin's temper has gone down a whole lot over the years and honestly, I did not expect Kelvin to not pursue the matter any further. Probably due to his age.

I'm glad that the video has helped other shops recover their stolen items. I'm also glad that there are so many kind people out there willing to spare their time to spread the message.

I still believe that stealing is wrong and if no proper measures were taken to deal with this guy, we'd probably never learn.

I feel bad but at the same time, I don't sympathise with him.

A serial thief, like I've guessed. Hope the other shops press charges. No sympathy for this young punk serial thief.. Make him learn his lesson..the hardest way..
