Friends.....

For electric guitar, what kinda strings do you all prefer?

Nickle or Stainless Steel? What is the difference? :?:

Which is more durable, nickle or stainless steel??

Personally I will go for Nickel because of the feel and tone.

In the case of Stainless Steel strings, only the wounded (the 3 thickest) strings are stainless and the unwounded ones seems to be nickel coated, same as those in the Nickel pack.

The Stainless wounded strings are more dull in colour compared to the Nickel strings. Stainless feels rougher too. I think Stainless will cause fretwear easier than Nickel.

Stainless Steel strings have a brighter sound while Nickel strings have a richer tone.

Stainless strings are very durable. Much more durable than the Nickel ones. In fact, I've used them once for 2 weeks and they are still good as new. However, the unwounded strings all turned black, thanks to my super corrosive hands.

nickel for me...being using nickel strings even since i start playing electris guitar and i dun have any plan in changing it...haha

Stainless steels eat into your frets faster than nickle ones.

If you want long life, DR Strings or Black Diamond coated strings are the way to go.

would presume DR stands for DAddario, right...

Thanks.. is there any other guitar strings(brand) apart
from DAddario. Any recommendation??

Try Dean Markeley's Signature series!!! I stand by it. hhaa
btw....DR's not DAddario...DR is the brand that's got color coated strings. 18 bucks/ pack, but its great to use.

Black diamond's good too... yupz... if you like metal, can try GHS boomers too. You'll need to do a setup for your neck if you use the Zakk Wylde ones, but it really gives a nice sound for playing riffs.

if it lasts, it'd make a good investment. i have the red coated set in my guitar here, lasts for 11weeks, played everyday:

yup, the coating's there to prevent it from rusting... many thought that it's just visual appeal, the reason why the won't even try these strings.

i haf a plan..i goin to buy 2 sets...a blue one and a red one...den put the alternatively...so it will be like...red blue red blue red blue...wouldnt it be soooo cooool

Tite-Fit Nickel Plated Round Core Electric
Hi-Beam Nickel Plated Hex Core Electric
Pure-Blues Pure Nickel Round Core Electric
Legend Polished Flat-Wound Guitar
NEW!! BLACK BEAUTIES Black Coated Electric Guitar AVAILABLE IN RED DEVILS AND PEACOCK BLUES

hmm... i've seen alot of guitarist use ernie ball's string.. but it seems like it's not that popular (or should i say common?) here in singapore.. is it that it's hard to get or they don't sell it in singapore or the string just suck by itself but i doubt so..

i started out with ernie balls. these are good until the 'slinky' disappears, which is like in 2 hours- feels pretty lifeless by then. it's a good brand to get if you keep changing strings.
