Guitar Samples

Hey guys,

I'm looking for any guitar samplers / virtual instrument kinda thing.

Preferably something which allows me to tweak the tones or something. Mainly for arranging though.

THanks!!

Which sampler are you using? Are you looking for loops or multisamples? What type of guitar are you looking for (Les Paul, Strat, Acoustic/Steel String, Classical/Nylon String etc)?

I once came across KVRaudio forum. There is a Kontakt patch that weight about 1 gig that do chords and lead keyswitching. It is not complete yet. I also forgot the brand. Most of the time virtual guitars are plugin base. Sound bank is not a lot(unless you talk about non-keyswitching one).

Pettinhouse (http://www.pettinhouse.com/) has some usable and relative cheap samples (I have some of them). Prominy is one of the best (if not the best) for Les Paul and Strats (http://prominy.com/index.htm). It comes with a hefty price, but it's hard to get anything close to the real thing here. Sonivox has some guitars (cheaper ones) but not Native Kontakt. Other non-Kontakt ones are East West Ministry of Rock (which you get more than just guitars) and VSL.

There are various cheap ones, which I can't remember (I have some of them as well in my HD). I'll let you know later. Do a search for license-free ones. There are many out there, although quality is not as good.

You'll probably also want Guitar Rig, if you don't have Komplete. Get a clean guitar sample and process it through Guitar Rig.

Hey man! Thanks!

I know nothing beats actually recording them. But I aint a guitar player and it's just for demos and the samples I have in Logic is plain disgusting and killing me.

If you are not a guitar player, and you are willing to invest, then Prominy is the best. Although not cheap, it almost equal to having a real guitarist in your studio playing for you - a very good guitarist. Paying for a good guitarist for sessions will be more expensive - esp if you are into productions.
