Guitar noob need advice

Hey guys, I really want to start learning how to play the guitar. I have done my homework and I have narrowed down my search to these few guitars. Possible if anyone here can tell me more about them or which would you recommend based on personal experience or anything you think i can try? Please and thank you!

Hi jonathanlwj,

Looks like you've narrowed down to a few guitars for selection.

Here are some quick tips, if you have not already known...

1. Action - check the "height" distance between the strings and the fingerboard.
2. Tuning - check that the strings sound exactly 1 octave from fret 0 and fret 12 when pressed
3. Neck - check that the neck (truss rod) is straighten, not bent too forward or backward against the guitar body
4. Comfort - check that you feel comfortable holding and playing the guitar in your hands
5. Tone - check that you like the kind of sound produced by the guitar when strumming and plucking

One more advice. Perhaps you can have a friend of your who has deeper experience in guitar to accompany you in your shopping. This way, you can increase your chance of being a more prudent consumer.

I own a J&D DG-Solo Cedar CEQ and I'd say that there are good J&Ds and there are not-so-good J&Ds, so it would be very good to have someone more experienced with guitar to follow you and help you test. I can't compare it with the other guitars though as I haven't tried them yet. Sorry! But once again, a more experienced guitarist-friend would be a great help in deciding which guitar is the best in terms of sound, playability, etc.

I really do like my J&D though.

Personally I like Swing SM-100, EST DS-1000 and J&D DG-Solo. Out of these 3 guitars EST DS-1000 sounds the best. Got the deep bass response with clarity, bone nut and saddle with solid spurce top. I think the price is only $299. As an2 sais, go an try it out.
