Guitar Maintainence?

Is there a post here about everything there is about guitar maintainence? If not I would like to ask what kind of care do we actually need to show for a guitar? Besides the normal wiping it after play and applying the solution on the strings does it need like frequent check-ups at a luthier? If so which luthier to go to? and what should be ask the luthier to do?

An honest luthier will recommend the appropriate treatment/care/repairs/setup/mods for your instrument.

So the key isn't so much about asking, since you are obviously a novice - you wouldn't know what to ask... but rather to find an honest, trustworthy luthier who is capable of helping you out.

Maybe, lets not go luthier-level yet... lets do it Singaporean and go FREE.

Google like crazy.

Ask experienced guitarists/players.

I'm assuming Electric guitar? I highly recommend this book by Dan Erlewine:

Borrowed it from Esplanade library. Covers all the basics like neck, bridge adjustment (for action) etc.

Adjust your truss-rod carefully. Other than that, the rest are pretty safe for you to fiddle with.
