Guitar cables

well i end up using bullet coil cables for my bright sound, still searching for the warm tone sound

Maybe I should bet in $5 for getting a cheapo looong cable to get a super warm sound. (bleeds off plenty of treble LOL)
If you want warm tone maybe u should consider EQ over your bright input instead lol...

I'd recommend Planet Waves. Really worth the price for its quality & its lifetime guarantee. Recommended for those heavy usage.

Mine also has a mute switch. It comes in handy at times when u need to grab the right key or chords on the stage.

Hope it helps.

Yup I agree with him... the mute switch is cool for unplugging to swap guitars while the amp is still hot.
Only thing I dislike is that the cable is abit stiff.

Wow I didn't know cables make such a big difference to tone, and that there are cables that cost as much as an amp? I got one question though, if the cables cost so much, why not just use the money to buy a better tube amp? lol.

I'm using $30 cables, but I reckon it doesn't matter, cost I'm not Steve Vai and making millions by selling my tone. Waka.. :P

Guitar cables >$40 are pretty negligible in quality, your $30 cables are pretty excellent enough for recording, stage etc...

yes those cheapo cable sounds warm but no defination, very muffled.

erm no lah EQ not like that lah, cables are like EQ within an EQ. U see ah if EQ so power then why bother to get good guitars? After all what is entering your ears are frequency between 20 to 20khz, so if you get lousy guitar with a good eq u can just manipulate the eq to get the sound u want.

I do hear of people making their own cables with cut lengths from a spool of Canare, and then using Neutrik plugs. Anybody done this before? Is it simple to make, and will the cables hold up in terms of quality and durability?
Thanks.

U see ah, some ppl ears are spoilt, they call them audiophile. For this grp of ppl they want to get the best sound they can and to get the best sound, the whole signal chain from the guitar all the way to the amp cab must be good because everything affects sound.

Yes if you know how to solder the cables, my canare GS6 is made like that but i didn't solder myself. Eh if you want a demo about sound from cables just pm me, I have a canare GS6, a proel cable, a bullet cable sound demo.

Which is correct but you interpreted in a wrong fashion lol... a bright cable is always a high quality cable (I've never heard of a poor quality bright cable), a warm high quality usually has a micro capacitor inside to attenuate the brightness off... which leads to EQ or just turn the guitar tone knob. Why bother spend so much when you can do with a free methodology? Plus it can change style from bright to warm.

Expensive guitars has unique wood character inside (sometimes the brand x-factor), not about tone quality. High quality tone can be determined with good PUs and wirings and caps, which is not expensive if modded in affordable guitars compared to high end guitars alone.

It's relatively simple... if you know what you're doing it's no different from what a shop does (not counting those ready made ones like Planet Waves). If you don't want the hassle though, you can head down to TYMC and choose from a range of Canare, Mogami and other cables and Neutrik, Amphenol or other plugs, cut to your specifications, for a reasonable price and lifetime warranty.

ya lah good cable is like good guitar like that lah, cannot be eq. so far i play good cable is not about bright or or warm, another thing is defination, if the sound is defined or muffled. make sure the bass mid trebles all very defined.

Wah that sounds like a good deal. Life time warranty holds for all cables? But I heard it'd be cheaper if you buy a spool and make yourself. Hmm... Where's TYMC btw? Thanks so much!

the core X2 cables can also custom make, and the sound is much better than canare GS 6, I tested and tried it myself side by side. Core X2 can be found at woodworks at peninsula

simple requirement for me: my cable must be noiseless/ low-noise. currently using Canare cables + Amphenol plugs.
Hey! that's what i use too! haha +1!! i was introduced to them by luther, then beez also carried them too soon after! love the coloured canares, makes packing up so much easier cause i can immediately identify which cables are mine!

Although it is OOT but ask yourself this..

what is low pass filter made up of, and what is behind the tone knobs? does the schematics resembles an EQ?

ahh? I catch no ball, i only know plug into the amp the sound is good then wahhh sound no good buy new stuff

things that can be bought with money may affect tone. but there's one thing that can't be bought.. FINGERS!!

You just don't have enough money yet :p
