ok heres my sitch:

i broke my guitar jack 3 weeks ago

i've been deprived of electric guitar for 3 weeks

i bought the damn jack today

there is a sickening buzzing sound

i checked the amp, and its not the amp

i checked the soldering of the cables to the jack, they're all soldered properly

so i'm asking is this probrably coz of the connection of the pickups to the switch to the pots? i juz wanted to know this before i take the pickguard off coz its damn diff coz i juz restringed the guitar

btw its a yamaha pac112

Reverse the wires at the jack. You probably wired the 'hot' lead to the ground lug and ground lead to the 'hot' lug.

i doubt so, if not i wouldn't be able to hear anything from the guitar at all, i can hear the strings, but there is a shit load of buzzing on top of that

Why do you doubt so? Have u checked with a multimeter? The symptom u describe will most likely be solved by interchanging the hot and ground wires on the jack. If you had accidentally reversed the wiring at the jack, u will still hear sound, albeit with lots of crackle, pop and humming and buzzing, whatever you call it. Reversing the wires is a 30 second job. Try it and if it doesn't work, take a photo of your guitar wiring internally and post it here.

bro..cold solder can cause the humming too...
the improper grounding is another reason.
abt the buzzing part...not too sure what you mean
