Guitar Amplifier for Beginners

Went to Swee Lee yesterday but didn't get anything :( hmm... they only have Micro Cube 30x and Micro Cube RX - both are a bit out of my budget. They also have a Fender amp, forgot the model, going for $299 after discount - though the brand name's nice, since it wasn't mentioned by anyone here, I didn't really look at it. They don't carry Marshall, but have tons of Laney and Peavey. Well, guess I'll have to check out other places...

eh i didnt know got micro cube 30x. only have normal cube. micro cube is a model itself. huhu.

u want marshalls? davis has plenty to check out. for marshall, i'd recommend the microstack. mg15msii is the model i think. shoot. u can see the review in the amp review section by our own mr subversion.

You can source for VOX DA5 too for about the same price of Micro Cube (not the 4 speaker version). Go city music to try.

between VOX and Roland,
which of these takes pedals better?

cause i'm nt the type that goes with the onboard distortion/overdrive.
would rather slowly build up my pedals for the sound i want.

thanks

i would say the roland would tend to take pedals slightly better than the vox. But i guess its really up to the buyer to decide which is better for his/her ears.

Hmm Trish, if u got any friends who are students of yamaha or has the membership card. I recommend to go down to yamaha to check out the crush series from Orange(yamaha members got discount on orange amps!!). Their tone is pretty good, cleans to me are in the middle of the spectrum, not too warm, not too cold. the 15R would fit very nicely in ur budget.

+1 :D
I had a vox pathfinder back at my parent's home and it never did it for me with my od/dist/fuzz pedals. The Roland micro cube on the black panel took pedals much better imho. ymmv though
