Guitar + Amp

I had my first basic guitar package a year ago.. Now i'm thinking of upgrading them..

My budget is around $800 for the guitar and probably $300 for the amp. I'm looking for a strat/ super strat guitar, currently looking at some japanese fender strats. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

I will be using this for long term, so I wanna get a better one.

Japanese VS American, are there much difference in them?

As for amp, I'm pretty interested in the Vox Night Train 5W. Good choice?

Can't say much about Strats but I can tell you you that Japanese Fenders are almost every bit as good as their American regular production counterparts, the only drawback being their stock electronics. Fit and finish are top-notch and quality control is pretty consistent. Amp-wise the Lil' Night Train is a good starting point, but a bit over your budget. Perhaps you can tell us what kind of sound you're after? We may be able to reccomend you some other options.

yes japanese fenders are good, but be sure to try before buying. superstrat wise, ibanez has a few in that range, i think the neon ones, or maybe secondhand prestige. squier classic vibe strat goes for $550 at swee lee, reviews on it are extremely good, although you may not like the tone.

Amp wise im not entirely sure, but vox is a good way to go. my friend got one of the tube voxes for ~$200 at citymusic sale (its on now) and its pretty good, small, low wattage bedroom amp.

For your guitar budget, you can look around for a 2nd hand Japanese Strat at the classified ad available at this forum.

Vox Lil Night Train is a pretty good amp that you can invest in :) Nice bright cleans..
