Guitar amp recommandation

Hi guys,
Planning to change my amp.. Got a budget of $500. Looking at either the Little Giant or the Marshall microstack but am open to other options. I play metal most of the time, and stuff like Black Sabbath, Dream Theater, Metallica etc.

Any recommandations guys?

Hmm.

Are you more of a pedal-drive guy, or more of a amp-drive kind of guy? I can only think of the Vox Valvetronix XL series for amp-based drive for your kind of price range. However, if you're more into coaxing drives out of your pedal, I would strongly recommend something that is inherently cleaner such that it would take your pedals well. Good luck with your search.
