Ground noise

Hi all,
got some ground noise coming from my bass electronics.
When I touch the strings, the noise reduces.
Also, it'll become louder when I increase the treble.
Is the electronics screwed or is there a cost effective way to fix it?
Thanks!

if you suddenly facing this hum issue ...then it might either your instrument and amp is too close to you pc , lights with dimmer or other elctro gadgets.

Move away or them off and try ....it if persist just use another power source !! :D

hi there, thanks for the reply.
it's regardless of position. and the buzzing cuts down when i touch the strings. so i thot maybe it's grounding. but i'm a electrical idiot so i'm not too sure. when i tried other bass, it's ok. so it must be the bass.

hey i have the same problem too but when i plug my bass into other people's house no noise.
Is it my amp is broken? Or is it the position of the amp cause when i go very far away the noise decreases even though it does not go away. But my friend can point his bass pickups like 5 cm away from the amp but have no noise what so ever..

might be something to do with your grounding. check out the wire connected to your bridge and solder it to a grounding point.

Is your amp using a 2 pin plug?
If it is then switching to a 3 pin plug might help coz of the extra ground cable at the 3rd pin.

I don't have a problem using 2 pin plugs, no humming whatsoever. You should try isolating the problem, eg using the bass on other amps, if the problem persists, bring it to a tech.

dun think its the amp. prob send to the tech to have a look, but the bass is so cheapo, the repair may cost more than the bass
thanks guys.

I have this problem with my squier P-bass. I work around it by keeping my fingers on the strings at all times :) I do that anyway to mute strings that I don't want to sound, so it's not a big hassle.
