Grindcore

music genre is becoming more complicated.it keeps growing and growing till the end of the world where a huge meteor will crush the earth wiping out every life-form on the surface of the earth.maybe too dramatic.

Grindcore to me is Scum and another album after that by Napalm Death (after that they sort of become more technical, more Death Metal - is that the correct term btw?) and 2 of Carcass's earliest albums with that puke-inducing-dead-bodies-covers. Same thing, they got more technical after that... I still have those cassettes somewhere... Local band i can think of is (was) the Birdbrains from early 90s i think (can't remember, saw them at Substation a few times)... I'm lost on new bands though...

I love it when they slow it down and play those chugging and "grinding" riffs...

Wooo. There's Turbgrind too. I used to have a few Pornogrind songs by Creamface but they all just suddenly disappeared. ):

Carcass. Is good. I don't see why people diss their Heartwork album. Change isn't always bad.

(Sorry for reliving an old thread, just bored out of my mind.)

i know a grindcore band called carcass. woo. ha.their songs are nice. i like the drums.

Grindcore, often shortened to grind, is an evolution of crust punk, most commonly associated with death metal, a very different though similarly extreme style of music.

Grindcore is characterized by heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars often showing crust punk-influenced riffs, blast beats by drummers, short songs, and a vocal style consisting of growls and higher-pitched vocals, often similar to those found in black metal. Lyrical concepts range from social and political issues to gore and horror to humor

Good job bro!! Carcass is a good example of a brutal grindcore band. You might want to check their album called Heartwork. Personally, I feel that's their best studio album la. Dont look at their lyrics though. They used words like 'putrification' etc. You probably need a dictionary to try to make sense of these words.

Yes, Carcass is a good example of a great grindcore band but only the 1st 2 albums can be considered pure grindcore, after that they tend to lean more towards death metal, the 3rd album "Necroticism - descanting the insalubrious" can still be considered grindcore but not the 4th one which is "heartwork", that album is considered by many as brutal yet melodic death metal. Grindcore songs are always short and most of lyrics tend to be about politics and gore but NOT ALL. Grindcore is meant to be intense, in your face and fast. Recommended bands would be early Napalm Death, Nasum, Sore-Throat, Rotten Sound, Cerebral Turbulancy, Mastic Scum, Phobia, Jig-Sore Terror, Terrorizer, Needful Things, Brutal Truth just to name a few.

what is grindcore? is it just technical music or chaotic music? are there any nice grindcore bands out there to listen to?

grindcore and death metal are very different.
people get confused with these two genres because pioneer grindcore bands such as napalm death, carcass, extreme noise terror and pig destroyer eventually changed their genre to deathgrind/death metal.

grindcore is simple music, like punk rock. down-tuned trash metal power-chord riffing, blast beats, songs are short and fast, usually under two minutes. vocals consist of low growling or high-pitched screaming. unlike death metal, grindcore focuses on speed and noise rather than technicality and musicianship.

the blast beats for grindcore songs are sometimes so fast, that it cant be played by a human drummer and grindcore bands like agoraphobic nosebleed use a drum machine that goes up to 400bpm instead of a human drummer.

here's a few essential albums for you to start with to know what grindcore is.
Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer
Napalm Death - The Code Is Red
Napalm Death - Scum
Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction
Exhumed - Gore Metal
Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Altered States of America
The Berzeker - Self-Titled
General Surgery - Left Hand Pathology
Insect Warfare - Endless Execution Thru Violent Restitution
Nasum - Human 2.0
Regurgitate - Carnivorous Erection
Sore Throat - Noise Annoys

aaaannnddd bands like waking the cadever, suicide silence, dr.acula, job for a cowboy, etc. are NOT grindcore, pig squealing was never a part of grindcore, but death metal, those bands are just grind/death-influenced metalcore

You too have to consider noisegrind and p0rngrind..

More on the noise, less on the musicianship..

well i play in a pornogrind band.. its definately not lacking in musicianship. infact its one of the toughest song to play and compose, playing that those breakneck speed syncing in those notes with ultra speed melody.

and grindcore u can pretty much experiment with all sort of technique and different style. for me i inject a bit of funk into the songs, my other guitarist added a bit of power metal, etc..etc.. and our drummer need to go crazy taking in multitude of musican influence and blasting his balls off.

btw if u guys wanna see napalm death vids that i go to KL check out my personal myspace site ;p got some clips and full vids of the napalm death gig in KL Ruums! btw its lovelovelovelovelovelovelove killer lah.. napalm death .. lovelovelovelove man awesome like lovelovelovelove.
