I saw this at Ranking ,

12" & 13" Toms,16" Floor Tom..22" bass drum....14" steel snare...

1 cymbal stand(cannot remember whether boom or straight...

for $850.00 brand new

I just wanna check with you people here...does this set sounds ok?....

Thanks in Advance...

Cause I wanna Buy...

Once you change the heads and tune them up, they'll sound better than OK :D But you'll have to factor in cost of new heads.

means original head no good...well...understand...most likely will change to remo pinstripe......

thks for the feedback...most likely will commit....but now also thinking about Yamaha Stage custom advantage...about double the price of black hawk...not sure which one to get really...

so many choices.....blur liao...then also another offer ...a Peace drumset only $500 +...

also thinking about Pearl Vision...

The Pearl Vision will of course be so much better than this Gretsch Model.....I suggest you scout around read more about which kit you want....dont buy hastily...There are many who can help you out here.

Starting from (a Budget you intend to spend) and (a Brand New or Resale-Kit) ..... think about it really.

After much consideration, cause I hope it will last me a life time...i think will like to invest in the Yamaha Stage Custom...

It looks real good and tough....like can last longer..the hardwares and all that ...what do u guys think? Is it overpriced?

Thanks in advance...

Yamaha Stage Custom is a pretty good Entry-Level Kit (I'm using one myself) - - but as regards to it's Hardware I think it's pretty easy to adjust (the mounting for toms) but in Terms of Solid.ddddddness - I still prefer the Pearl.

Standing at your position now - go for the Kit you love be it Yamaha, Pearl whatever ...

How much is the Yamaha Kit & it's condition now (you never state anything) - how to judge?

Eric

Hmm, although the Yamaha Stage Custom and Pearl Visions are close in price, they are actually different range of drums.

Yamaha Stage Custom shells (including Advantage and Noveau range) typically feature mixture of Birch, Falkata and Philippine Mahogany plies.

Pearl VBX Visions feature all-birch wood shells, hence I consider it a higher tier product.

Recently one of drum manufacturers trend is more affordable all-birch kits, with pearl being one of the early ones to market.

I believe this may have led Yamaha to produce and announce debut of Yamaha Stage Custom Birch (see press release below)

The Yamaha stage custom mahagony set costs around $1600-$1800, depending on whether or not you are a student or member in Yamaha.

I would daringly suggest that you take a good look at the Gretsch Catalina Maple which sell for about $1600. Really, at this price range, you would be much better off investing in maple or birch sets, instead of phillipine mahagony. The other would of course be the Pearl Vision.

Do correct me if i am wrong, but I thought that the maple Visions also sell for the same price as the birch??

Now there is Pearl FOrum new FZ series with ISS mount....

wow...so many choices...lost...hehe..

I rather go for Pearl new FZ now...it seems...

hehe
