Green Day...good distortion pedal...

Hi guys....what would be a good distortion pedal for lots of high gain stuff like Green Day when they play "live"...if u see their live performance..there is a second guitarist...who is Jason White...i prefer distortion that sounds like a Mesa..without spending too much...would a MT-2 do the job?...

BTW: Since my microcube is dead..i might be getting a smarvo..using pedals for distortion..

to me, MT-2 sounds shitty live. You can try the Ibanez smashbox, its cheaper too, maybe can look arnd luther classifieds for it

a plain mt-2 sucks. Should get it modded to remove the buzziness and fuzziness. Thats when it owns.

I don't know much about distortion pedal but I know that I can get quite nice tones with a sd-1 running thru my marshall cdr15... the trick is to use the right settings...

First off I run my marshall on a slight over drive that I am comfortable with, then I use my pedal and adjust it to the tone I want... definitely can't get the heavy nice sound I want if run clean...

i mainly play the Vox AC30 model on my microcube...the sansamp tri ac lsounds quite fine as well..

btw..have any of you tried smarvo amps before? is the overdrive reasonable...but i like the clean..

Smarvo amps are great at clean channel.

For overdrive channel, seems like its modeled after less popular brit design. So the tone is not so easy to dial to a common distortion sound. But if you explore, there could be some interesting drive sound possible.

So use what ever effect pedals and multi-efxs on the clean channel, you should not be dissapointed.

okay...can an acoustic be used with this amp..and what smarvo do you recommend...i want something that is not too loud yet can be used outdoors...and would you choose a Pod 2.0 / Pod XT / Behringer V-amp2 for amp emulations..

An acoustic can be used with any electric guitar amp, but the sound will be middy. That's why they created acoustic amp.

A good choice would be the 4012R, which is 12" speaker with 40watts power & reverb. This is priced cheaper than the microcube.
