great tone on Marshall MG15

he plays well, but can't really tell what the actual tone is through the camera's inbuilt mic. nontheless, it should be more crappy than what it sounded live. tone's in da fingas!!

I would call that great playing rather than great tone IMO...

As much as I love that "Yngwie vibe", to me its sounds kinda thin and shreeky..

i was afraid to say that, but since Cavett said it himself,

yes, the tone could be much better, the player just didn't make it sound half bad with his good playing..

of course its not the best tone but hey if you're into shred then its a great tone on MG15. if you play like shit whatever tone you have is gonna sound like shit ; )

I like the MG series. They sound fine for practice with enough gain for shred.

The vids sound good. The guy plays well too.

I have no idea what Rokken's point is in posting this thread but thanks I suppose.

Wow.. this guy's really got some stuff to strut. But seriously, if you run him through a Marshall stack, the tone will be much better. lol.

what's my point? i thought this is under guitar-gear?

And of course i know if you give him a marshall stack he would sound much better but don't you get my point of posting this thread? the title is great tone on marshall MG15. i'm only talking about the mg15

most of the stuff discussed here is quite subjective, so no amount of argument of opinions will bring about a sensible conclusion.

the only objective statement so far was your reference to yjm's tone. it wasn't explicitly stated, but were you implying the dude in the video is getting yjm tones?

What is tone and what is skill? When theres skill and context(in the video and playing lines like engvay), some of us hear it as tone. When theres no skill, even with the grandest of gear, tone is prolly plain sound, bad ones as well

the amp in picture became the secondary point of focus, which indirectly exhibit characteristic of man playing the guitar as the main subject, who made a bigger difference. The amp, is just a compliment of person playing the guitar, having to offer. Be it mg15 or any other practise amp, it will have the same effect, great tone for some, great playing to some others as well.

*thoughts that swirled around, not targetting at you, you or you, if anyone felt otherwise, good. At least its a chance to have a deeper understanding of yourself, how vulnerable one can be...*

Yes it sound similar to YJM's tone but in that video he was just trying to demonstrate the MG15 and i believe to sounded great(to me atleast) thats why i posted it. if you feel that it sounded bad to you, it's alright since this is a forum we are free to express ourselves.

Lol.. ok I think this thread needs a little splash of cool water. :D

Bottom line: The sound & tones of amps are subjective to individuals. So an amp might sound great / similar to a famous artist to some, but sound like crap to more discerning others. Tadaaaa... mystery solved. =)
