After much thought , i've decided to purchase a beginner keyboard.
Went down to Luther's Music at Ginza after work today to try out some keyboards.
Went into a store, and was greeted by a mild mannered gentleman, who happened to be luther. Chatted with him for a while, telling him i used to visit his shop at IMM and bought a bass guitar from him.
Was asking for a suitable beginner keyboard purchase and was introduced to a selection of yamaha keyboards.
We eyed on the psr - 275, and without much questioning, luther offered his expertise on the basics of the keyboard.
He started telling us about the good and bad points of the psr 275. Played some really interesting tunes and told us what we could do with that keyboard. I think he went out for about 15 minutes even though his friends were waiting for him!
After that, we took notice of another model. The psr - 295, and like the previous model, Luther started teaching us the ins and outs of the keyboard as if we were gonna make a purchase for another 15 minutes!
How's that for customer service. And the funny thing was, he told us, we could play as long as we want, with ZERO OBLIGATIONS to buy the keyboard.
And he top it off by telling my girlfriend that keyboards are meant to play LOUD!! "Play keyboard cannot be shy, must play loud!"
I could not believe my ears when i heard that! He even told my girlfriend that if we have any problems after the purchase, we can always go visit him during weekdays and he would offer to teach us!
1st shocker
He told us that we could get it cheaper at Mustaffa. But might not have warranty covered. But which shop in the right mind would ask you to buy it off somewhere else?
2nd shocker
He told me, no obligations, we don't have to buy if we don't like it. If we're interested next time, we could always email him and ask for more details.
Well, me and my gf, went off after that, and wanted to go for dinner. But after some thought, we decided to purchase the keyboard from Luthers instead.
3rd shocker
When we went back into the shop, luther gave us 3% discount, later upped to 5% because he recalled i used to buy a bass guitar from him. Bare in mind, i told him that before we came back, and not that i wanted more discount from him.
And best of all, he said that he will deliver the keyboard to my place FOC by the next day, as there's no stock available.
For that kind of extra milege luther goes for his customers, it's seriously 2nd to none.
I've never met someone that's so passionate about his job and music, that he even wishes his customers to enjoy that kind of priviledge.
I'm not bootlicking here, but after purchasing the keyboard from Luthers, i would say that i'm superbly impressed by his service and warm hospitality.
Not sure if anyone else has the same experience as me, but all in all, it was a wonderful experience today.
Simply no regrets even if i had to pay slightly more then elsewhere.
Two Thumbs Up.
