good pickups for a strat?

Well it depends on what sound u want and ur musical styles.

If u play old school music and want a clean Stratty sound, go for vintage pickups. If u like to get a rockier/bluesier sound, especially when using overdrive, go for hot/overwound pickups.

There's lots of choices out there..:)

thanks faizal_rocks
needed to start somewhere..
actually i'm sort of interested in DiMarzio virtual vintage pickups... does most music stores in sg sells it ?

+1 to the Fender Hot Noiseless, I had this set on my Strat before and its really versatile for all kinds of music...best thing is there's no irritating 60 cycle hum. I'm thinking of getting the bridge HN for my Strat :)

The Dimarzio Areas are the best noiseless pickups imho :) The rest have either some compression or mid spike that's totally unStrat-like.

Consider the Budz pickups :) Dave Budz and I went thru several prototypes before we finally settled on "my" Strat set :)

Confirm Air Norton S, Pro Track and Tone Zone S
auralight: lol now do u understand why dudelove said what he said? Which was totally ignored? look at all the random worthless recommendations here.. Mine inclusive (which was total nonsense)

I spent as much effort recommending as you asking for recommendations.

If you tell us more about what you are looking for, tone wise / feature wise, there will be much more useful information here for you.

same question i asked myself a few months ago, but finally decided to try out tesla VR1 set on my strat.. it worked perfectly fine fo rme. enough bite.. just the right amount of output level.. singing sustain at the ends.. while still preserving the true vintage sound of how a single coil should be like.

+1 to the Dimarzio Areas.

Have tried the Bill Lawrence L200s that Shredcow had, the duncan stacks (beez loves them) and they sounded nowhere near what a single coil should be.

The areas just nailed that single coil tone in my head without the hum.

Ahh.. i decided to get a Virtual Vintage '54 Pro instead of Area 58 or Area 61 for my middle pup. It sounds great but i have no idea how it compares with Area 58 or 61 since i haven't used them or come across a friend who has them in his/her guitar.

i've got an area 58 in my neck position. perfect for almost anything lol. takes tonnes of gain w/o the hum. yet retains the clarity and spank of a typical vintage SC :D

I like those Fender CS69 pups and Fat 50s. What about trying those single-coil sized humbuckers, like the lil'59 or JB Jr?

I had a virtual vintage solo in my neck pu position of my strat for a while..it has a bit more mids than the area 61 which im currently using (tks dudelove!).

It was what got me hooked to dimarzio's range of hum cancelling pus...

I have another area 67 in the middle, nice and bright and it gets that thin funky sounding thing going on in the 2 and 4 position...me rikes.
