Sigh...

Nowadays, i've been practising less and i don't know why.
Maybe i lost the energy already. I don't know seriously what happened to me.

Maybe the rat race has taken a toll on me.

Need some inspiration on continuing my guitar dream.

Give me some...pls...

I'm a loser in life.

Don't have much friends and i don't have my transportation. Hard to meet new people. Sigh~~~

Only exchange ideas over here.

Wish have somebody to play with together also sometimes...

?

What happen to you man?
Suddenly, feel so down. Relax lah.

I thought you are working on your solo?

Here's some Inspiration:-
Try to imagine, that your solo that you created will be appreciated one day or you can drop by to any jamming studio to make some friends there.

Imagine is a dream, hard work will pay off in reality.
You will be satisfied went you play in one show and crowd give you a loud applause of appreciation.

Hope that you can make more friends and form up a band of your own and practice together with your band members is a best thing to do.

Hmm.

Dude, don't sound so emo! :? What's life without music right?

I always advocate budding players to *listen more*, rather than *play more* .

Suggested album listens (sorry, classic rock buff here):

Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here
Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin II
Jeff Beck: Blow By Blow
AC/DC: Back In Black
Thin Lizzy: Live & Dangerous

The above albums never fail to amaze and inspire me. Perhaps softies could also recommend some stuff for this poor soul to be inspired by?

Dreams can die.

Most dreams are to be as they are - dreams... usually because dreams are not practical to the dreamer.

I'd say, inspiration for music comes from 3 things

1) Yourself
2) Listening to Music
3) Watching Music

(1) is the most important. If your heart isn't on it, isn't for it, isn't into it, then (2) & (3) doesn't matter.

Take a week off from the guitar. This times, rethink the Dream, edit some of the contents of your Dream... make it more down to earth, more attainable. If the time off doesn't help (it usually does) then take a longer break till the day comes you find inspiration from somewhere amongst the 3 sources.

Thanks very much. Feel so much better.

Sigh, if i know what i want to do earlier definitely i would started my guitar path since young.

When i was young, everyone only ask me to study study and study. I never know what other thing is until i heard the first "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits and then i found out the guitar prodigy.

It's not that i'm lazy or what. I'm not lazy, it's just that my passion suddenly gone just like that. I don't know why...i'm not used to be like this.

Thanks for the songs and inspirations. Maybe you guys can see this video by Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower at Isle of Wight.

It never failes to inspire me and watching that video makes me realise how great this guitar god is...

bro i hate to break it to you but....

IF YOU THINK YOU'RE DEMORALIZED, YOU ARE.

FACT IS, YOU ARE NOT. YOU JUST ALLOW IT TO OVERCOME YOU.

PASSIONS CAN BE IGNITED AGAIN. QUESTION IS, ARE YOU DETERMINED?

SO ARE YOU GOING TO PICK UP THAT AXE AND PLAY, OR ARE YOU GOING TO JUST WALLOW IN YOUR SELF PITY?

ARE YOU GONNA PICK YOURSELF UP AND TRY AGAIN, OR ARE YOU JUST GONNA STAY THERE?

THINK ABOUT IT.

really really sorry for the harshness. cuz like you, i used to have the same problem, and i wouldnt wanna see people having the same shitty negative thinking. it still happens to me sometimes dammit......but i move on with life, saying that there will be better things to come.

i get my inspiration from vai alot. but do not just stop there. continue exploring other forms of music. really.....it helps.

i play the blues, but that doesnt stop me from playing progressive and metal right? (metal's not my cup of tea tho)

well, im really sorry again about the harshness again. all im saying is, you can do it =) really. if you've run out of ideas and inspiration, never ever stop exploring.

cheers ;)

the stairway to heaven solo , by led zeppelin inspired me to play guitar
i guess you should listen to tht song :)

if ur listening to punk/emo, stop, and go listen to real music with guitar. then u'll be inspired. lol.

Fennderrules, you are not harsh and thanks for your motivation.

I know sometimes learning and mastering is really hard but i'm not a lazy person. I believe the rat race always taken a toll on me and i rarely able to touch my guitar on my working days.

My favourite song is Stairway to Heaven by Led zepp and that was the first song i learned to play. I able to paly the intro and solo for that song..haha

But either way, sometimes playing alone at home makes you feel like a bit lost. I just need to find my light again...

How to find CDs for steve vais or satrianis covers or these guitar gods oldies songs?

Can recommend good cds to buy..cause i want to start hearing these songs.

But i do like limp bizkit though..and that's the only modern group i listen to.

Man...i love my guitar so much

quote frodonet "Sigh, if i know what i want to do earlier definitely i would started my guitar path since young."

dude, if i knew i wanted to play guitar since 3, then i wudnt have asked my folks to spend $ on my lego, pokemon cards, gameboy, tamiya cars (well maybe this one still can lah) and spend all that money on guitars.

anw dude, if i'm feeling somewhat "lost" in my guitar-playing i always listen to any of paul gilbert's works (be it Racer X, Mr Big or hios solo work). i'm no-where close to his playing tho lol.

frodonet, you've got to chill it. Nothing in life comes easy. It's a lot of work for a long time.

Unless you're willing to make the sacrifices and you do have the talent(s), you've got to adjust your expectations accordingly. Not all of us can get Pamela Anderson-like girlfriends. So we make do. I now prefer Su Qi - but that only began yesterday. Before that it was ... .

If you can't play like Vai, then play like, hmmmm ... Greenday's guitarist. That's not too difficult to achieve.

At the end of the day, you've got to be happy with what you do. Of course we all want to improve but we have to know that improvements cannot be seen on a daily basis.

Again, it's a lot of hardwork, talent and sacrifices.

Take it eas bro.

Yeah indeed a lot of hardwork and sacrifices.

Ppl who hobbies arent music based won't know how hard it is to play musical instruments.

They only idolize ppl who sing and those who really making music with their instruments are shadowed by the curtains in the back and sometimes the light also not turn on for em'.

I think i starting to get my passion back and i miss my guitar. I will play today and practice some more. But play on my acoustic first...haha.

The ppl around me also doesn't share the same interest maybe that's why i feel so left out.

But i like one quote by AC DC song.

"For those who about to Rock, i salute you".

Rock on Brothers......long live guitar and Rock & Roll.

Actually, I understand your problems. I am also busy and have little time to play guitar nowadays.

I think the trick though, is to make your practising and playing EFFECTIVE. You don't have to play for hours and hours to be good.

I'll recommend you a practical piece of advice: Go down to Penisula Plaza, to Memphis Music. Talk to Mr. Ho, the owner and order a copy of Tomo Fujita's Accelerate Your Guitar Playing. Remember to get a metronome if you don't have one.

I find Tomo's exercises extremely useful because it isn't ridiculously difficult or taxing. His approach emphasizes that one relax rather than go for speed. Each exercise takes only a few minutes or so to go through everyday.

Plan your practice with other useful exercises you may have. Keep them short and minimal. Make sure you relax but concentrate on playing.

As for playing songs, take your favourite guitarist's songs and dissect it, many many times.

Hope this helps.

Raymond
