Good work, good recording.

We've been playing together for slightly more than a year. We do have vocals. I write most of the lyrics. And we should be working on originals. But so busy, so no time.

I'd say that it'll be easier for you to prepare the full works ..

and that means?

eh?

Meaning? Go out more to meet gig organisers and pass them your material (press release, demo and tech rider). If not, how would anyone get to know your band and more importantly how you sound like? At least, it shows on your end that you are serious and professional.

And that means you will increase your chances of getting gigs.

press release - information that you want the press to know. in this case, it is information about your band, the individual member, description of music you play...

demo - a sample of your music. put into layman term. a cd of your music. dont think demo means anyhow record. the quality of the performance and recording is a direct reflection of your band's standing.

tech rider - the equipment list for your performance. how many guitar amps, keyboards, music stand, lights ...

Would something like

3 microphones with stands
2 guitar amps
1 bass amp

be sufficient for a tech rider or does it need more detail?

Yes, note down the number of power strips required and how many piece drum-set is required? How many monitors are needed? If you have certain equipment requests, eg. bongos, DI boxes, etc? Put them in.

If you have specifications on how the band should be mixed live, as in how much reverb the singer wants in his vocals, etc... The amount of time spent on soundcheck, etc.

It'll be great to draw a stage plan of where the individual members will stand on stage. It's easier for the stage crew to visualise the layout and anticipate any potential probs.

Of course, having one doesn't mean you'll definitely get a Fender Deluxe when you ask for one, esp in Singapore.
