Gig:Need helps and views..

Hi Guys..

I plan to do a gig for non profit gig on me.I never had experience in this field.Need view on my plan if you guys dont mind.Here it's Bro..

1st: Each band just need to pay $50 and free to all upon entry.Or 5tixs for $10 each to make it easy for band to sell it to their friends.So band members dont have to use their own money.I intend to have like 20 band in the gig.Its just to cover back my pocket money i fork out.When performing and band cause the damage on equipment,band will take note tat they have to pay for it.Do you think it works?

2nd: I dont know how much the total cost of the event.Like place rental,equipment etc.

3rd: I dont know where to hold the event

4th: Do you think ppl will say im trying to earn profit through this event?

I do appreciates if you guys can give me ur view on arranging gig,cost and ideas guys...Tks guys for viewing..
 
Since you don't want to earn any profit, you can document all your costing here to let everyone know. I can guide you along but you must do the hardwork.

1. Find out which venue you want to hold this gig. (easy - just look at the gig section)

2. Call the venues and ask them for the rental rates. (you got to do the work)

3. Get quotation from MI/PA rental company. (look at the studio list , you got to call them up)

4. Cost of venue + Cost of MI/PA + budget for marketing + emergency fund = Total cost

5. Find x number of bands to share/bear this cost. Don't have to sell tickets.

It is really that easy if you dont want any profit from it.
 
Hi Bro,

You may want to start by looking up the entertainment licensing guidelines with MDA just to have a good understanding of the parameters.

I personally feel that there are many gigs these days. Listening to your music, perhaps you may want to consider drawing up a melodic rock meet where you draw bands and musicians who are expressing their soul through their instruments alongside the lyrics.
